Wow !! Just awsome gallery bro ! Congrats on having this set up of life. The screen size is massive and really hugely impressive. Just had a few questions as my knowledge is a little weak on the subject
1.) I can see you have bought all floorstanders for all surround channels in the 7.1. Any specific reason behind it? I mean correct me if I am wrong but all this while I thought floors are only good for fronts and book shelves are more than enough in surrounds as there is least bass in those channels. Do we really feel the justifying difference with the 4 floors around us? 2.) Your screen size is in what ratio? Is it exactly 16:9? How do you manage to deal with the black bars for a 2.35:1 movie? 3.) With such high quality set up and high end expenditure, whats your take on giving acoustic treatment for your room? You can really improve the AQ by unbelievable levels if you have the right acoustic environment. Do u have plans for it? Or correct me if it is already there in some way and i missed it. Cool pics and thanks a ton for sharing. |

![]() Yeah, there is a huge difference having floor standing speakers for the sides and rear as well. First of all, they'll be tonally in tune with the fronts which means there won't a difference in sound quality when effects pan from front to back, etc. When you listen to most blu-rays that come out these days (examples include Captain America, Dark of the Moon, Underworld Awakening, etc), you'll notice that all the speakers are equally active with music bleeding into the surrounds to create one hell of an immersive sound field. Most people believe the fronts are the most important with the others just for 'effects'. But that's not the case as every speaker is equally important for maintaining an immersive sound field which are all tonally in sync. Most usually use bookshelf speakers and divert the lower frequencies to the sub but diverting some of the LFE to the speakers as well increases the sound quality. With very little low end from the speakers, the sound (effects and music) lack the quality that you get with the LFE diverted to it. Think of it this way - If there is a missile being launched and the sound come from the rear, passing through the side and then going to the front, it's gonna sound better if that sound has a low end to it (low end doesn't always mean vibration. It means that the sound is 'deeper'). And as all the speakers are tonally synced, the missile will sound the same when flying through. 2)It's a 4:3 screen. I wanted a screen as big as my wall and all the 16:9 pull-down screens were smaller (120inchs). The only screen available this big was 4:3. The screen isn't pulled all the way down. If it is, it will touch the floor. In a way, this gives me more freedom vertically to project the image. As you can see, I haven't mounted the projector on the ceiling, so it was a bit tricky to project the image without the sofa blocking the image. The black bars won't bother you with a projector ![]() I didn't go for a scope screen as I would be doing nothing but reducing the size of my 16:9 images. With my current screen, scope images are as big as they can be and 16:9 movies will be much taller and hence bigger. I'm restricted by the width of my room. So having the maximum width and height possible will give me the biggest images in both ratios. 3)I haven't done any acoustic treatment nor have I looked into it. I'm still in college lol ![]() ![]() Anyway, the sound is great as it is. Feel free to ask any doubts you may have ![]() Even though it is a 720p projector, it looks great. Back then , I had to choose between 2D 1080p or 3D 720p. Going 3D was the best decision I ever made as it looks great on a big screen. Theatre 3D and sound is crap IMO. If you ever wanna invest, buy a projector instead of a TV. More value for you money IMO. I got this projector for 90,000 r.s and the screen for 20,000 r.s. Most 3D LED TVs are much much more than 1.1 lakh and they're not even half my screen size. Last edited by srinivas1015; 09-18-2012 at 07:45 PM. Reason: spelling error fixed |

Yes I do. A 'floor standing' speaker is not necessary, but a full frequency response speaker is ideal for all channels. It is for budgetary, space or aesthetic reasons that people chose to have limited frequency response, wall mounted speakers for the surround channels.

You should also be aware of the high-end, especially with center speakers. Be careful as most of them are bad when it comes to dialogue making it screechy and give it a 'whistling sound'. |

One gets 3D glasses for LED TVs ...what glasses does one use for Projector based 3D...do they provide? or some special glasses need to be bought? how much is their cost?

I'm skipping 1080p and directly going for 4k. The jump from 720p to 4k would be substantial whereas the difference between 720p and 1080p projectors is minimal at best.(HDTVs however have a significant difference in quality between 720p and 1080p.) I say, don't spend too much on a projector right now as 4k is just over the horizon. Even if you go 720p, you're not 'settling' as you can see that the images look excellent. There is no 'checkerboard effect' as some may believe. |

But I would advice against these as they are all LCD projectors. I demoed the Panasonic 7000u and while it looks great, 3D movies have ghosting/crosstalk whereas DLP is completely crosstalk/ghosting free. The Optoma HD67 (the one which I have) doesn't come with glasses but you can buy separate DLP-link glasses which arre really heavy and the picture looks washed out. I have connected my projector to my PC which has an NVIDIA GTX460 graphics card. This can bitstream audio and even supports 3D blu-ray playback. It costs around 25,000 r.s I'm using Nvidia 3D Vision, Nvidia's 3D glasses which come with an IR emitter to sync with the glasses (I placed the emitter on the center speaker). Each pair of Nvidia 3D glasses costs 11,000 r.s but this is by far the best 3D I have seen. Certainly beats the crappy polarised 3D at theatres and is much much better than various other active 3D solutions which result in crosstalk due to LCD technology. |
