Doesn't look like anyone here has heard of Dvdempire.com
I stopped buying from Amazon.com ever since I discovered Dvdempire more than 7 years ago. I always have my orders shipped by courier, never by post. Though, for courier shipping, the per shipment cost at Dvdempire is higher than at Amazon.com, the total order amount works out to be cheaper for bulk purchases.
Let me explain.
Amazon.com
Standard Shipping (11-17 days)
$4.99 + $3.99 per item
Expedited Shipping (8-16 days)
$13.99 + $3.99 per item
Priority Courier (3-5 days)
$29.99 + $3.99 per item
Dvdempire.com
UPS International Economy (7-14 days) [up to 15 items]
$3.50 + $1.50 per item
UPS International Priority (4-8 days) [up to 15 items]
$7.00 + $1.50 per item
UPS Courier (3-5 days)
$50.00 + $1.50 per item

The first 2 (postal) shipping options (Standard/Economy and Expedited/Priority) are clearly cheaper at Dvdempire. But even the courier option works out cheaper for multiple purchases.
Let's say you buy 10 Blurays costing $15.00 each. Then, prices being equal, the cost works out as follows:
Amazon.com
$150 (for 10 items) + $30 (shipping) + $40 (per item cost x 10) = $220
Dvdempire.com
$150 (for 10 items) + $50 (shipping) + $15 (per item cost x 10) = $215

And this is without taking into account the ridiculous import fees deposit charged by Amazon.com - no such charge is levied by Dvdempire at the time of purchase.

Also, for courier shipments Amazon.com use DHL while Dvdempire use UPS. DHL works out to be more expensive than UPS, but I'll leave that for another post!

My first order Alien Anthology-4 disc set (£9.97) from Amazon UK ended in a disaster today. (ordered on Sept 20)
First package lost. Second package amazon sent it as a Gift via Priority shipping. Few hours back, the courier guy delivering the package and charged us for 1450 rs (approx £16) as import fee deposit, thats almost double the price of the item. Rejected the package.
What is really happening? Why should anyone pay more than what they paid for the item iteself?
Will Amazon refund my money back?

i suggest those who's first parcel got lost dont ask for replacement , y coz amazon uk when they send replacement puts the british mrrp sticker of the movie instead of discount price they charged.

my friend who ordered 110 pounds stuff for 45 pounds had ask for replacement they charged with 4500 rs as customs charge. coz amazon showed 110 gbp instead of actual price.

amazon will refund ur order no worry. but i suggest ask for cash back or promotion certificate .coz u would be charged a hefty sum

Perhaps a point for another dated thread but what I'd love to buy on BR if they ever become available are the magnum opus movies produced and directed by Mr Ghai! How poignant it would have been for the 25 year anniversary of Karma to see a clean blu ray release! That movie was made for the big screen as Mr Ghai himself said.

So, on BR I would LOVE to own : Karma, Ram Lakhan, Trimurti, Khalnayak, Saudagar and Pardes. The first 2 are most important to me though i'd expect a wonderful transfer from Trimurti which was an enigma at the time and even now since it was actually shot in 70mm. The 'very good very bad' track would look especially awesome on a PJ with a good BR transfer as it features at one point all three male leads who had a massive impact over the late 80's early 90's.

got delivery of strangers on a train and dr strangelove both worth 29$ plus 7.61$ import deposit today in 8 days as yesterday was holiday.

well one incident , aramex guy came with parcel and was asking for custom duty worth 832 rs that is whopping 55% , i said i already paid to amazon and amazon has paid ur aramex office, then he called his boss and his boss said to take back the parcel , well i refused to give back and asked him to wait and i will show him the bill where it shows i paid , my dad then had chat with his boss , i showed the guy the bill and my dad talked about the bill to his boss and his boss agreed to give me my parcel. i gave him the copy of bill to take away and ask him to contact his aramex head office in usa.

one thing , he had no customs receipt just aramex document where we have to sign and he said sir waha likha hain custom charge that too printed in small size. i am now not sure really customs was charged or not. my post man use to show receipt.

and 55% charged , coz amazon had printed 29$ price tag on box and it was big box with air bubble bag packing.so i suggest be careful guys

Recently I ordered a Sony HX200v camera from ebay.in & after almost a 8-9 days aramex on the delivery day called me &

they replied so get ready the money we will deliver it today but remember 1 thing you can't open the package I said hey bro i will only give money after checking then he replied you can't open it lena hai toh lelo khole bina nhi toh hum wapas bhej denge so i said as you wish & ended the call

I simply thought after having conversation with that idiot they broke it & they will put it on my head

Quite a good deal as a 20% off next purchase voucher came with it - got it on the last day of the offer

Other than that I've got 'The Dark Knight Rises' on pre-order as well as 'Expendables 2' (both blu ray steelbooks )
