I had a similar problem with Dark Night of the Scarecrow Blu on my Samsung player. The movements were sped up , like the timing was off. I tried a different player and it worked fine. Have you tried a different player?

Sorry to say, but Shout Factory just lost a bit of my money by having Cat People, Darkman, and Assault on Precinct 13 be blu-ray only. I realize that there was probably something in the Assault deal preventing a DVD but the Universal deal already has multiple Shout DVDs of their titles coming out (PoD, Psycho II, III). Could you please explain this Cliff?

I also don't have a BD player and don't plan on getting one until DVD production has been ceased.

I'm really not all that surprised about AoP13 being Blu-Ray only. AoP13 has already had three previous DVD releases (any of which can be found relatively cheaply) and a Blu-Ray release in the US. The DVD market for that particular title may be just about tapped regardless of what upgrades they include.

A combo pack at least would be nice, but my main problem lies with Darkman. Now, I'll begrudgingly have to get the bare bones DVD while knowing that the option for a CE DVD was out there. I'll probably pick up the trilogy set.

Are you serious? Why do you even post on a forum that is blu-ray centric? If anything I'm waiting for the day DVD's are eradicated. I'm getting useless discs I'll never watch when I get them in these "Shout!/Scream" combo packs.

This is like me, being in a vegan restaurant, b-itching because well I like the storefront, but they don't serve me regular hamburgers! DVD's are dead man, jump on the bandwagon.

New Mystery Science Theater 3000 DVD set info from Satellite News...

The episodes for Vol. XXVIII will be:

111- MOON ZERO TWO
422- THE DAY THE EARTH FROZE (with short: HERE COMES THE CIRCUS)
802- THE LEECH WOMAN
909- GORGO

There will also be a bonus disc with 512- “Mitchell” and 513- “The Brain That Wouldn’t Die.”

Info on bonus features to come.

The example I gave would have me b-itching, I didn't say you were.

I just don't get it though. Why not get a blu-ray player and be able to player blu-rays AND DVD's. Why restrict yourself to only have a DVD capable player?

If I were them I'd only do blu-ray releases, well maybe more popular ones as combo packs with DVD's.

I was very excited for this announcement - I believe the person who chooses the episodes is Jordan Fields. I don't think Cliff handles the MST3K stuff but please correct me if Im wrong

Cliff, any chance we might ever see the Universal clipshow "Coming Soon" come out on DVD? I know it is based around the classic monsters which you guys haven't worked with yet, but it does have Jamie Lee Curtis being directed by John Landis and a script by Mick Garris! Maybe if Scream Factory does a Universal film from the 30-50's it could be a very cool bonus feature

I'm really excited by the TV Terror set even if it is only DVD, but I'm also a little worried as future TV sets depend on how well this one sells and even though I haven't seen these two, it sounds like they could have picked some stronger choices to start off the line. It sounds like Initiation is well liked, but Are You Alone, not so much. It sounds like a very generic womens movie of the week that isn't even really a horror movie. I guess if it is priced right and you look at Are You Alone as a free movie then maybe it's not too bad. This just reminds me of Bill from Code Red basing whether or not he releases more Blu-rays upon how well The Electric Chair sells on Blu-ray, a movie no one was asking for even on DVD. I really want to see more great TV movies released but I think they could have started out with stronger titles, at least in Are You Alones case if they want strong sales. If this doesn't sell well they will say there is no market for TV movies when there is for the good ones.

Also, I hope Cliff and company realize how excited people are thay they are releasing TV titiles considering they didn't want to release any and are only putting these on DVD. On most forums this is the one title many are excited about from their announcement and it's not even top tier TV movies.

You do realize Blu-ray players play DVD's as well right? No reason not to get one...by the time you start buying Blu-rays many you might want could be out of print or hard to find (meaning expensive).

Well Schizoid isnt that good unless youre into drug induced WTF is going on and borderline porno lol , and Helen was terrible too (IMO) but Im getting it for the Godsend ..hopefully the Vagrant and the Outing are good also

Why did they choose a film that already has a good R1 release, and in fact can be bought as part of a double-feature disc with Whoever Slew Auntie Roo? for only $5.98 from Amazon? You'd think they'd select another new-to-DVD film. Also, can 60 fellow Blu-ray.com members each contribute a buck so demonknight can join the rest of us in enjoying Blu-rays, please?

I'd guess it's a last minute, cheap n' easy substitution to minimize delays and losses. Scream Factory had been showing production samples of the original release late last month, and with less than a month to go before the official release date, they were probably pretty deep into production. Given the low MSRP on this release, any last minute changes or delays are probably major blows to the potential profitability of the release.
