You probably wouldn't want such high resolution in a movie. Your attention would be on everyone's pores instead of the characters. You would be able to detect all the flaws in the sets, etc.n You know there's a reason why cinematographers used to do things like place a stocking over the lens when shooting certain actresses and why film camera portrait lenses have defocus controls.

And I bet that color rendition is not all that accurate. It doesn't need to be for defense and military applications.

You wouldn't see them though, that's whats kind of stupid about the ever growing resolution..

Your TV would have to be 100" and be sitting less than 3 feet away from it to see that kind of detail. It's pointless.

The point of this is likely that it will cover a large area and you would be able to zoom into the detail. Not to watch the whole picture at 18k but to have 1080p or 4k areas to be pulled from it.

If you can get glass that can resolve 18K...Zeiss Master Primes and Leica Summilux-C's can resolve stupid high amounts of actual resolution, in fact Master Primes look almost clinical and oversharp sometimes but I would bet money that there isn't even a single set of cinema lenses out there that can come close to resolving 18K. But yeah for defense and military/Law Enforcement it could be useful, you know so on CSI Miami or whatever they can say "the cameras were 18K so we can enhance even MORE!!!"
