Okay,
My mini review on the Audeze LCD-X. Deal is done. I have purchased the HP's. These were a store demo unit and it is fitted with an aftermarket cable. I will likely remove the aftermarket cable as I like the Audeze supplied balanced cable better (it is more flexible). Audeze market these HP's as their portable HP. They have to be joking. Yes they are easier to drive (a lot easier than the LCD-3) however everything else about these being portable is a joke. Damn you will be laughed at big time if you walked down the street with these on your head. They seriously do look like two speakers strapped to your ears. Adding to that they are the heaviest Audeze headphones (600gms v's 543gms for the LCD-3). So home use only. Let's gets some HP porn pics out of the way. A nice looking HP. ![]() ![]() I was thinking about getting another nice stand for the LCD-X. Like what my LCD-3's are on above. However I think this looks hardcore. What do you guys think? ![]() ![]() I think I will just store them like this. Ready to use at any moment. ![]() Okay. Home use only. So what are they like???? Bloody heavy. Not for the faint of heart. These are noticeably heavier than my already heavy LCD-3's. Build quality is fantastic. Think battle tank build quality. They feel more solid than the wood on the LCD-3. Sturdier and heavier. All that cast aluminum. I like the build and don't have issues with the weight. But others would. Sound: It's all about the sound. This is what separates Audeze from the others. It may have other faults (weight mainly) but there is no comprise on sound. Thick Bass: Deep and you can hear bass note separation. Thick midrange: That real warm sound. Fantastic Vocals: The very best I've heard. Beating the LCD-3. Vocals just leap from the music. Relaxed treble: Probably the biggest fault with the sound. Fast: A very fast tempo. Far quicker than the LCD-3 which sounds more relaxed. The newer LCD-X features a patented tech called Fazor. It changes the way sound leaves the driver. Allowing for less distortion between the notes. It works. Compared to the LCD-3 I noticed everything was smoother and in the bass a lot cleaner. Different bass notes. LCD-X also has a thinner driver that allows more speed and making it more efficient to amplify. I also noticed the pace. The result is very smooth, neutral and accurate. Nice. My biggest criticism is treble. It has treble roll of. Detail hunters can leave now. It does not extend as high as the Senny HD800. Does it extend high enough. Not really. It is a tad short. The result is relaxed. Which is a shame. If Audeze had extended the treble we would have a real best in class HP. The sound is neutral all the way to the treble so a bit more extension letting in detail would have been a killer combo. Oh well. It is not to be. Vocals. The best I've heard and I've heard a lot. They leap out and get rendered sooooooo accurately. So realistic. Very addictive. With the deep bass, great vocals, fast pace and rolled off treble it is a HP you can use all day. Really nice. End result on sound. 9/10. My use. I plan to use the LCD-X on vocal based music (female Jazz singers etc), Jazz, Pop and anything fast paced. Then the LCD-3's on Rock, Blues and some smokey Jazz. It should be the best of everything. |

![]() ![]() Nice and easy system. I bet they sound good as well. ![]() Mad dog were the best at a closed planar HP. A mate has just ordered the Ether closed planar from Mr Speakers. I can't wait to give that a go. ![]() |

I re-read my response to DangeRuss at it sounded very robotic. Right now everything is confused. New headphones and a new amp paired together with no burn in time, heck the caps on the amp only have two hours on them, plus my ears are still getting used to this kind of presentation versus a dynamic driver.
