Seems it is with sleeve. But not sure how they will put the 70mm film reel in the package. Typical wallpaper used for front cover but a decent design. They should use Aamir Khan with boombox (inspired from the cover art for Portuguese musician Q-Barreiros)

Special features seems interesting.

Earlier 3 Idiot was released @899/- and now PK (Note: That time all BDs were 699-799).

Yash-Raj keeping the price of new title between 499/- to 599/-, even the highest grossing film DHOOM-3 was released @799/-.
May be 899/- for PK 70mm film reel/strip and to get a chance to meet Aamir

It was shot on 35mm, and was probably mostly seen digitally, rather than on film. I doubt there were any 70mm prints. Maybe they made some 70mm frames just as a memento for this release?

In India 70mm seems to sometimes be used as a euphemism for "widescreen."

That part of reel goodie made sense way back when Lagaan had that special DVD Edition. I still have it and with the knowledge back then that thats how films were projected in theatres it was very exciting to possess it. But no, Not now. There are no reel theatres in my city and i highly doubt they even exist in single screens across the country.

The writing for this film has been the most interesting aspect IMHO. Hence I would have been happier if the original screenplay was provided.

For now I am only worried that those 70 mins of deleted scenes/making on the same BD should not compromise the picture quality of main feature.

Agree, they didn't mention those 70 min deleted scenes will be in Full HD. As you mentioned about the compromise with the main movie, there is possibility they may includes that as SD.

Do they mean some of the scenes in the blu-ray are from a scan of the 70mm (so variable aspect ratio like The Dark Knight) or are they actually giving pieces of actual 70mm film stock?

They mean actual pieces of film, they did the same with the Collectors' Ed DVD of Lagaan.

^It's no real blood off their nose. Even if they make 5000 copies of this edition and put say a 3-frame strip in each copy, at 24 fps that's ~ 6 min footage, and they can easily do a dupe negative of a special commemorative still shoot of the entire cast standing together from the mahurat or something like that (its not like it says "camera negative strip"). As for why, some people think it has collection value, I personally shrug at the notion

American companies have done it too. The very first Collector's Edition of Titanic (DVD/VHS) contained a film strip. As there were only 17 scenes used for distribution, they probably produced the strips for this purpose.

Obviously! You really didn't expect anything original from an Indian company, did you?

No, not really. Actually, I couldn’t first recall the name of the movie. As I started typing, it came to me. Then I got the picture of the cover and forgot to change the wording.

At the DVD launch of PK in Mumbai today, Aamir Khan apologized to those people who were unintentionally hurt by certain aspects of PK. But he also stated that he's not apologetic about the film and stands by it totally. Aamir also said that he favours freedom of speech and he doesn't approve of the violent means by which certain groups protested against PK after its release.

The PK Blu Ray, DVD and VCD carry the making of the film and four deleted scenes as well. At least one deleted scene where Aamir searches for God in a 'dancing car' is especially interesting, funny and yet poignant. Rajkumar Hirani said that it was his favourite scene but unfortunately they had to chop it off. The BLU Ray, DVD and VCD will be available in the market from March 16 onwards.

Aamir who's celebrating his 50th birthday on March 14 said that he feels like an 18 year old. He said that he doesn't think he has reached the peak of his career yet because according to him, if you say you've reached the peak then you go downwards hence forth. He's not aware of the plans for his birthday and he stated that his wife Kiran is planning it. He shall be meeting the members of the media, a day earlier on March 13. He shall leave for the resort near Lonavla on March 13 afternoon.

For the first time Aamir Khan spoke about his next film Dangal. He said he has put on around 22 Kgs and is currently weighing 90 kgs. He has started learning Haryanvi and also the craft of wrestling. The casting for the film is still on and most probably the shooting should start in a few months.

Rajkumar Hirani, post the launch of PK DVD, informally told me that he had been prepping for the Sanjay Dutt biopic in United Kingdom. He refuted the news story that appeared in certain sections of the media that he was writing the film in USA. He looked fresh-n-relaxed which was quite a contrast to the days when he was giving final touches to PK before the release.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Seems like they sticking to the release schedule for a change!

Why are they waiting for PK's satellite premiere and delaying releasing their blu-ray if the DVD is already out
