Now at $3 million, a WiiU port is coming. Igarashi isn't exactly being subtle about it being a new side-scrolling Castlevania in all but name.

An exploration-focused, side-scrolling platformer featuring RPG and crafting elements.
Koji Igarashi, the namesake of "Igavania"-style games, is leading the project, with Michiru Yamane composing the music and Inti Creates leading the development.
If funded, the game will be developed for XBOX One, Playstation 4, Wii U, and PC. For the first time on Kickstarter, backers will have the option to receive actual PS4 / XB1 / Wii U / PC retail discs.

You are Miriam, an orphan scarred by an alchemist curse which slowly crystallizes your skin. You must battle your way through a demon-filled castle summoned by Gebel, your old friend whose body has become more crystal than flesh.

The physical copy of the game for Xbox One, Playstation 4, Wii U, or Steam (PC/Mac/Linux) will include exclusive Kickstarter-only content:

Blew right past the initial final stretch goal of $850K and looks like they'll be finishing the first day with over a million dollars. I wonder how much of that million is just people wanting to give a great big "F**k you!" to Konami.

I pledged the $28 for the digital copy just now. 17k backers, well over $1.3 million (as Derb said). As the publishers saw, there is clearly no demand for a spiritual successor to a beloved classic (and my absolute favorite 2-D side-scroller).

But good Lord, does the conceptual art for the game look good.

There goal is actually 2 million for all the added content they want in the game.

anyway, pledged $60 for the physical copy, I wanted to do the $100 to get my name in the credits, but figured the only people I can show it off to are the people that know me and of the people that know me, probably only 2 would care about this game.

Just saw this and went with the $28. Reason being so many thousands of people are pledging $100+ that the credits will be absolutely insane and you'll want to skip them. lol

Probably. Even for as well as the Kickstarter has done, it would likely be most efficient for the game to be a digital release at $19.99 or so. If it did get a full retail release, though, I would probably buy another copy just to support it. With Konami basically collapsing itself into a primarily mobile company, someone needs to keep Castlevania alive (in spirit, if not in name). I'd rather play this than a Castlevania tablet game (or Lords of Shadow, to be honest).

This is actually what I was thinking. This would be the easiest with the most return for an "indie - per se"
So I am gonna wait closer to the deadline to see what all the stretch goals will have been and if there is no indication of a general physical release, these will be collector's items

I thought about that too, skip the credits...unless my name is on there, or if beating the game trophy requires you to finish the credits like some games do. (like they think it actually makes us read the credits it's time to make a sandwich! LOL)
