Original post:There's been some rumbles around Gran Turismo (7?), but with a variation it seems, which may (or not) signal the opening of the franchise beyond just Car Racing. Maybe?

Obviously, to be treated wtih multiple grains of salt, but I wouldn't be surprised if the next iteration of Gran Turismo shows even a tiny bit of its nose at this E3.

Interesting. With Yamauchi's comments about not ruling out a Tourist Trophy sequel, maybe they'll combine cars and bikes into one game? Not to race against each other, but just having both included.

It would make sense to release something in the vein of GT5 Prologue; a non-series game to tide us over while GT7 is in development.

How would racer fans feel if it turned out

1) real

2) a response to the more "open world" games such as Burnout/ Forza Horizon?

I imagine an open world area comprising several environements (South America?) like mountains, rivers, lakes, small villages, at least 1 city Urban environment, and multiple mechanical sports to do:

Car racing (street/ circuit/ rally)
Bike
Quad
Boat

What woud you feel if it was something like that?

Could be that GT7 will become GT Sport. If it does, the thread will get merged with the main GT7 thread and retitled.

Meh, I'd rather see a back-to-basics GT that polishes the core racing experience, rather than do a bunch of new stuff poorly. Remember how awful the kart racing was in GT6?

But what if it's -two- games, one being the classic sim (GT7), the other a more "open world" type?

I can see them making one game this gen and constantly adding to it. And like I eluded to, maybe the name means it'll be more than just cars. That's my hope anyway.

Interesting news. While I liked the GT and TT games, I only hope the following features were or are improved on:
In the earlier Gran Turismo games, you can't do a 360 spin in one motion.
In Tourist Trophy, if you go too slow, the rider won't "foot down" and just tips over sideways onto the ground like a dummy. I was surprised they let that slide.

Otherwise, great games.
Open world? I would be very surprised to see that considering GT's insistence on pro tracks and tracks in general, but would welcome it very much.

IA. They have good content but it is kind of dry. 90 minutes so far and its like 90% stuff we've already known about. It could have been cut down

which tells me its not ready to come out any time soon. I guess we at least learned it will get a beta next year

Beta is the new Prologue At least it'll be free this time I guess.


I think this could be big, over 100 million people watch GT Academy every year, as well as actually getting awarded real trophies at the FIA presentation is a nice treat, although I would come no where near those pro's.

But this is confusing as hell to me. IS this for all intents and purposes GT7 or is this some spin off from the normal GT series? They hardly announced any details for this whatsoever.

Its a spinoff. It clearly isnt GT7 as they would have said so. It looks to be smaller in scale and not the big GT experience they are known to deliver

I too am of the opinion that this is a smaller spin off of the main game. Although I would love it to be a full on GT affair.
