Be a hell lot more interesting then following dogs around. They made the most interesting character in Sleeping Beauty the focus in her own film, Maleficent, and it was tons better then the original Disney version.

I haven't seen Maleficent but I imagine it's easier to give viewers a reason to sympathise with her than Cruella. How can you justify skinning dogs to create fur coats?

They don't have to. Make it a film following the villain, make it a film that shows us that there is no way to sympathize with her.

You can't have a film following the villain without making them an anti-hero in some way. If you have a main character in any film, they automatically become that film's protagonist because you are following their journey.

With Cruella De Ville as the main character, why should we care? When you look at other films where villains are the main characters of their own films, they usually have some way you can sympathise or relate to them. If I'm watching a film following a woman skinning dogs for fur coats, I'm not going to invest with the character: I'm going to want her to die.

To make a further point, I think Cruella De Ville is a great character because she's so unlikeable that you want her to fail but I don't think she's main character material. She works as a main antagonist but I think villains in general work better as a secondary character than the main one.

This is a surprise as Pan was such a bomb. I absolutely loved Pan though, one of my favourites from last year and i'm a huge Peter Pan fan so the more Pan the better!

Has this been cancelled? Nothing has been announced and given Pete's Dragon flopped, I don't think the studio would want to work with Dave again. Good. I'd rather have Dave direct films like Ghost Story and he and auteur than work for this creatively bankrupt studio.

I would love to see the old classics redone in live action if they could be done to a T. As long as it wasn’t lifeless like TLK.
