No 3D this year either for LG's OLEDs but that's not really a deal breaker for me. I have 3D on my current Plasma & rarely utilize it. For me it wouldn't be a big loss. I also like to do some casual gaming & I'm not sure if the input lag on a projector would bother me or not. Plus I'm a big fan of plasma & the more organic look so OLED is definitely in my comfort zone while a projector is more... mysterious with more unknowns. I guess ideally I would have both but I'm not in a situation where I can do both. Regardless of which one I land on it will be my primary daily viewing, playing display.

It seems like Oled would be more suited for you

Yeah, probably will go that route. If so, I'll just have to sit closer to get a bigger screen effect & the 4k is suited to doing that too. Still looking forward to your impressions of the Xiaomi Mi.

Once you get a cord & spend some time with the unit you can give us your thoughts & impressions. Until then I guess it's just an expensive white box on top of your stand .

Yes it is. But I think it would make for a nice piece of decoration in the room[emoji38]
I'll give you the whole scoop once I get it to power on. I already downloaded the app I need to change settings to English language as that will be first thing to do on the list!

Do you plan to game on this at all? I am really interested in getting one. I read somewhere that this things has 80 ms and of input lag and maxes out at 30 Fps. I don't even know if that is noticeable to a casual gamer like myself.

Also BenQ has a 4K-HDR projector coming out in a couple weeks thats actually cheaper than this thing. But its not UST which i really like.

So I finally got the cord but by the time the mailman knocked on my door it was too late to do anything and due to my work schedule I won't be able to even hook it up until Friday...So frustrating as this thing has been sitting on the shelf since last wednesday

Seeing Blade Runner 2049 BD on a small screen made me want a projector. May have sealed the deal for me. I'm now back to wanting the huge screen size.
Did you use a discount code?

I only had a few minutes to ay least connect this thing and take a glance...
My initial thought? WOW this thing is BRIGHT and SHARP. It was just before dinner time so all the lights were on, and usually our Sony 45 was not exactly enjoyable that way because of very washed out picture. Xiaomi was comparable to having a TV playing in living room with all lights on.
I'm not sure if it comes with a bright/eco mode and perhaps ootb it's set up on 'bright' mode, but I was very surprised.
Somehow, and with the help of the wife, I was able to change language to English.
Another challenge was to skip the phone number registration in the initial setup, as the system only recognizes Chinese phone numbers!
I tried VERY BRIEFLY to explore display settings and pretty much eveything is set on 50. I also noticed that we have about 4 different custom picture modes each with a different name in Chinese but it seemed that they were all identical ootb.
Will dig deeper on Friday!

Try to use google translate on your phone, it sees the text through the camera and automatically converts it on screen. If one of those picture modes is for gaming im gonna pull the trigger on this.

So you think I'd be fine with a Silver Ticket white screen in a dark room with biege colored walls & white ceiling? I'm also interested in how audible the unit is & heat output.
