During the Blade Runner 2049 4K Steelbook fiasco a few days ago, I made a post ranking/listing all the Best Buy steelbook snafus over the years. The post seemed to catch on with numerous forum members, so I figured it was worth creating its own thread. In the BR2049 steelbook thread, I listed solely BBY steelbooks, yet I figured here we can debate, discuss & argue what U.S. steelbooks were the most arduous to acquire.
What should be added or removed? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by RogueKnite; 01-21-2018 at 01:49 PM. |

Dunno, when i got there at opening, I never had an issue getting any of the steelbooks that I ended up purchasing listed there and our sole local store is smaller than the home theater department of some of the bigger Best Buys.
I bought Hurt Locker, BR 2049, GOTG Vol.1, Thor: TDW, Furious 7, and ZDT all pretty easily. The others were still in stock days after release (aside from Mad Max because knew was going to buy the HDZeta release before the US steel came out so didn't bother looking). I will say that a number of the Target DCAU steelbooks were super limited, stores only getting 1 or 2 and never a restock but that's about it. |

I still have that Zero Dark Thirty and Mad Max sealed. ZDT was such a great movie, this makes me want to watch it again.
I'd personally take Furious 7 off the list, and replace it with either the Best Buy Captain America: The Winter Soldier or the Target "The Thing" Mondo Steelbook. |

If by most difficult you mean most expensive, I'd add:
Justice League War Son of Batman War of the Worlds The Ring The Godfather The Godfather II Jack Reacher (original) Cloverfield Life Plus several other of the DCAU Target steelbooks. Last edited by The Crimson King; 01-20-2018 at 07:27 PM. |

I was one of the members who wrote in the BR2049 thread. I remember all of these releases except for Hurt Locker and Moana. I wasn't collecting when Hurt Locker was released and I wasn't interested in Moana. But to me, GOTG was by far the worst experience I had.
GOTG was unavailable for store pick up for me. So, I was the first person in line at BBY. But before they opened the doors, the line went to hell and everyone barged in. So I ended up being the 3rd person in the store. The 2 dudes before me grabbed 2 GOTG steels each. Then they were sold out. The employees just threw up their hands. Incredibly frustrating. So I felt like I did my due diligence and still missed out. Zero Dark Thirty and Logan were pretty bad too. Thanks for walking me down memory lane! Haha |
