When or which was the first movie from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to be featured as a Steelbook/Best Buy exclusive? No imports, only domestic releases

It wasn't a steelbook, but Avengers was the first with a Viva metalpack. I think that was the correct name.

I believe it was (in the US) because Target had the exclusive 3D cover (I know that because I never got because they sold out by morning).

It was free when you reserved a copy of the blu-ray. They were empty cases that you brought up to the register at checkout.

Thor The Dark World was the first actual steelbook of Best Buy's exclusive run of MCU films and they've done one for every MCU film after TTDW.

FutureShop (in Canada and a subsidiary company of Best Buy) was the first with Iron Man. Some will argue that “that does not count, because they said BEST BUY.” The were the same company in my eyes.

I think there could be a case for Iron Man, Avengers and Thor the Dark World as which is the first Best Buy Steelbook.

Iron Man Futureshop steelbook, futureshop was bought by best buy they were just the canadian version of best buy and were eventually renamed best buy. Pretty much had most of the same exclusives as best buy usa.

Avengers 2012 collectors viva metal case is not technically a steelbook, but most people dont notice the difference. If you consider all premium metal cases steelbooks then you can call it the first. Also being rereleased in a month here

Wow, those were the days when you pre-ordered a movie or game and you got the steelbook. I remember you could go to the store and pick up the steelbook for $5 (when you pre-ordered), and take it home and wait for the movie. I remember some people canceling their orders because they just wanted the steelbook and waited for the movie to go on sale some other time. :\

I don't remember ever cancelling anything... Wasn't the $5 or $7.50 just more of a 'deposit' off the release price if you brought in your receipt? If you felt like paying that for the case, just don't show back up on release day.

Domestically, a Steelbook for Iron Man was offered by FYE. It’s very rare and goes for big money on eBay.

It looked just like the DVD one, but w/ the blue Blu-ray banner at the top. It was identical to the Futureshop one if I'm not mistaken. However, I did not see it in the database.

Thats what I did. Bought the preorder for the case then release day got the target one and put it in it
