I didn’t realize they filmed it yet. That first pic looks a little cheesy to me. But I’m excited for all the cast outside of Cohen.

****ing hell, is that Eddie Redmayne actually playing a character?

Looks really good, no one does Courtroom dramas quite like Sorkin.

Just watched it and absolutely loved it.

It is an intense movie and one that will potentially fill you with anger based on the asinine things that went on in that court room.

Performances are all phenomenal from top to bottom. Rylance being the real stand out I thought. And I am also a massive John Carroll Lynch fan. Dude is amazing in everything

Sorkin can do no wrong in my book and this is just another example of that.

Saw it yesterday, love it. I'm a sucker for Court room dramas, and honestly, I had no idea what actually happened with these guys in real life. I get why many are calling this timely, with so many protests of late and all.

Langella....I hated his character with such passion. Good performance, cause I wanted to jump into the screen and punch him half the time.

The entire cast was great and how it ended, it just left me in tears.

That song over the end credits should win Best Song if an Oscars does occur next year.

Not gonna lie, despite this being brief, it was so satisfying seeing Rylance's character yell at the judge.

Best Netflix movie of 2020 for me. I love movies based on history, especially the political ones.

Frank Langella's quite superb at playing unlikeable characters. First Nixon, now the judge.

I thought Cohen (49 in 2020) looked too old for Abbie Hoffman (33 in 1969) but his performance was GREAT!

I enjoyed it but it wasn't 'great' IMO. It felt a bit bloated and all over the place. At times it felt like a film that didn't really know what it wanted to be.

Don't get me wrong this is very much worth watching, and in a lackluster year for movies it is one of the better ones. It's just not a GREAT movie like some reviews make it out to be.

I really liked it, but yeah, it was ALMOST great.

The ending is just plain cheesy, and some scenes are a bit baity (yet, it's still in my top ten so far, lol).

Sorkin's writing is always slick and pointed, but it's the matching with this material that, while noble, often feels a tad too theatrical. Still, it's a good film. The trial, of course, was a mockery of justice which was overturned on appeal swiftly (in court terms), which its dramatization pounds home. That pounding doesn't always land, but is rather effective when it has Rylance's befuddled frustrated reactions as the defense attorney - at least his character was the one I related to the most in the sense of disbelief and appall at the proceedings. When it gets movie performative - complete with standing ovations and such - it lost me a bit in terms of storytelling.

I don't know what to feel about this. I felt like I almost liked it in parts. It's better than so much stuff churned out today. But I expect a lot from this man and think unfortunately this shows that Sorkin being a great writer doesn't mean he'll put it to screen with even similar expertise. Undoubtedly with pasts works still is one of the most masterful writers ever.

Just might be the sort of talent, where a Fincher is required to bring the words TO LIFE. There isn't much resonance here outside the standout performance of Rylance and moments in the powerful story which kinda write themselves onto screen with any solid acting. They seem like vignettes of brilliance surrounded by meandering stuff connecting them.

Of course, in bringing up Fincher above, no I am not directly comparing Social Network to this... but the performances of the worst in that movie out shined some of the best in this one; and with lower stakes (in terms of real human drama) and a more boring/mundane circumstance and premise to navigate the story -- It's just another echelon of output that Fincher unlocked and is operating in with his entry of Sorkins writing.
