Last Night in Soho (Edgar Wright)

I love his previous films but Baby Driver was a disappointment. Well made but I just didn't care for it and didn't find it all that entertaining. One reason (not a major one) was the choice of music. Instead of using some well known and catchy songs they used a bunch of what I think is made for the movie music. The problem with that is I could clearly hear in those tracks bits and pieces (or very similar to where they were avoiding copyright issues)to popular and existing songs. A lot of 80s synth/pop for example.

That's the only film I don't own on home video since I don't have a desire to re-watch it. I do have faith this next project will be more to my liking.

I have seen every Edgar Wright movie in theaters, even pestered him for a picture at New Beverly Theater in Hollywood, but was let down by Baby Driver. I know I’m in a minority on that opinion, but it didn’t work for me at all.

Always in for more Wright. Hot Fuzz is his best, and will likely never be topped, but he's made some damn good films regardless. Spaced was also excellent, and his work on Ant-Man is what made it good. More please!

I as well, didn't care for Baby Driver, but not for the music, i think the music was pretty spot on. I think i was just expecting much more car chase action and feel that they advertised that too much and there really wasn't much.
However, i'll still watch anything he's done....was bummed that he left Ant-Man....woulda loved to have seen what he did with that.

As some others have said, i too enjoy Scott Pilgrim.

You have to check out his Cornetto trilogy (I'm sure this has been recommended already.) Those are some examples of great modern comedy.
As for Scott Pilgrim, I share your dislike of that movie. It might've been visually impressive but the movie as a whole stunk.

I'm telling you, if this is even half as good as Repulsion it will be one hell of a movie. If course, Repulsion is one of my favorite movies, Polanski is one of my favorite directors, and Deneuve is one of my favorite actresses -- so that might be tough.

Anyway, just wish we had more info.

Loved....Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The World's End

I love the combo of Nick Frost and Simon Pegg. They were great in Paul as well.

I haven't seen Slaughterhouse Rulez yet, been waiting patiently for it to show up on Vudu or something here in the States.

I'm always up for another Edgar Wright film as long as Frost and Pegg are in it.

If not, it better be damned good...better than Baby Driver anyway...

Anya Taylor-Joy to star:

“Glass” star Anya Taylor-Joy will play one of the leads in Edgar Wright’s next film, “Last Night in Soho,” sources tell Variety.

Wright and “Penny Dreadful” writer Krysty Wilson-Cairns penned the script for the movie — a Focus and Working Title co-production.

Described as a psychological horror-thriller, exact plot details are unknown other then the story being set in London’s Soho district. Production is expected to start this summer in London.

Following the success of the Sony actioner “Baby Driver,” Wright had been weighing several projects, including a sequel to the Ansel Elgort-starrer. He recently told Empire Magazine that “Last Night in Soho” would be his next pic, and that he also had a draft ready for the next installment in the “Baby Driver” series.

Taylor-Joy’s star has been on the rise since breaking out in the Sundance darling “The Witch,” which led to her landing the role in “Split.” The success of that film has since made her one of the more coveted young talents in town, with roles in Fox’s “The New Mutants” and the Netflix series “The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance.”

She most recently reprised her role as Casey Cooke in the “Split” sequel “Glass,” which has become another hit in the franchise. She is repped by CAA and Troika.
