Disappointed by this. Just not my cup of tea. Not a fan of the real life/non actors. I felt like there was a disconnect between them and Frances.

I love Frances McDormand and slow-moving dramas, I guess, but this totally underwhelmed me.

Whereas, an hour into Parasite over a year ago, I knew it was special and couldn't wait to see what the final hour had in store.

With Nomadland, I really was just wanting the 1 hour, 40 minutes to get over with ASAP.

Maybe I needed to see her life BEFORE the recession etc. for it to have more impact on me.

Will try to watch it again sometime and maybe see what everyone is raving about.

I know right? This is like a Sundance-like micro-indie getting an IMAX release. Unimaginable.

But it is the only new movie in town. What else are IMAX screens going to play?

Chloe Zhao is obviously doing some kind of work with IMAX and not like there’s a lot of other options. Besides IMAX has played awards films before (including the majority of last year’s Best Picture lineup in much better movie times).

I like it, gives the film something of an exclusive theatrical run first, and feels kinda more special given the format. There is currently only one IMAX within fairly reasonable distance from me open (where I saw Monster Hunter after a long IMAX hiatus), I’ll probably try and go there if it’s an option, if not at least it will be only Hulu soon.

I thought this was getting IMAX release this weekend? I checked two Minnesota AMC with IMAX and one has Wonder Woman 84 the other has some Apollo 11 documentary.

Sounds like it might just be 8 IMAX locations. If so (there is one IMAX not too far from me but don’t have their listing for the weekend up, might be showing this, something else, or no IMAX as the theater is only using like half its screens), Hulu it is.

Stupid decision. Just release it on all open theatres.
