Yes! Yes! Yes! Was worried they'd bail on a sequel. Great news.

If this can get a sequel then Alita is a lock to get one.

Didn't like the film but I'm happy we're getting another one because Tomb Raider will always have a special place in my black heart

Good news to hear. I rather enjoyed it and now can be more action type movie as the origin story is out of the way.

Okay, I just checked. The first movie wasn't all that successful at the box-office. WTF are the studios smoking on?

Movie could’ve done very well on home video and the ancillary market. Square Enix probably doesn’t want to go through another reboot but absolutely wants more movies. Even though the movie didn’t reinvent the wheel, Vikander is pretty much universally agreed to be a fantastic Croft so why get rid of her? And MGM is probably desperate for a franchise and more willing to make something work instead of dropping it after a lukewarm launch. The only other franchise they have is Creed IIRC and lightning didn’t exactly strike twice with the sequel.

Vikander did rock reboot Lara, she deserves a sequel. Hope this one goes through.

Trying to build a franchise not matter what. They will lower the budget. It will fail again. Then they will reorganize and try again in five years. The results will be the same.

They deserve a shot at making a Lara Croft film that doesn't need to do the origin story. Make it feel like an adventure, just like the first classic games in the franchise.

Pretty sure it's going to follow the reboot sequels which is Rise of the Tomb Raider.
