What do you mean, Vudu applies it? That’s not even possible is it? Surely it’s a hardware thing and it can be turned off in the deep settings. What are you using? If it’s a Roku, you can absolutely turn it off.

I wouldn't suggest to anyone that they use their games console as a blu ray playback device; i burnt out the BD drive on my 80 gig PS3 within 3 years because of doing just that. Some days the machine had no let-up; using a dedicated decent blu ray player (4K or otherwise) is the best option.

I'm not a massive gamer so I would be playing the odd game.
More like 90% movies/10% games.
A big reason I'm getting a PS5 is for the potential of VR version 2. I want to future proof myself incase my 3D TV packs up.

I have the opposite view. I hsve been using them as back up since PS3 and both the PS4 and PS3 are solid as a rock. Played ms y hundreds of discs with no issues over a roughly 14 year period.

Good question. PS5 will support PS4 games including the stereo 3D PSVR games and the PSVR headset which for the PS4, has a newer update that allowed it to finally play blu ray 3Ds in the PSVR headset. There also was a blu ray 3D update for PS3 and PS4, so the hope is that there will be a blu ray 3D update for PS5 as well for those reasons.

Odds the PS5 will support blu ray 3D as a player? 5/10. Not sure. I hope so. The hope is, they're working on a PSVR2 due in a few years or less maybe.

Would it be tough for them to offer a blu ray 3D update for PS5? Not really, no.

Sony still hasn't dropped the ability to play 3D blu on their standalone players (including the most recent UHD players) it would be a shock if they did it now with the PS5. it will most likely play 3D discs.

Just saw an ad for PS5 on YouTube today saying it has "3D sound". That's nice, but a 3D picture is much better.

My Sony S3700 doesn't play 3D Blu-rays. Not on the box, not in the specs.

Your player only costs 79.99 so that’s probably why Sony didn’t include 3d bluray support I believe basic bluray players that are cheap only play bluray.

I believe that all current Sony 4k bluray players can play 3d bluray!

The 6700 has 3D. Usually available for 80-90 bucks

I think the existence of the PSVR is the best reason why the PS5 ought to be able to play 3D Blu-rays.

Agreed. The PSVR's stereo 3D ability and use to play blu ray 3Ds is a great reason for the PS5 to support blu ray 3D too. If they're supporting the PSVR and that ability, why not just add it for the blu ray UHD player too?

Yeah, exactly. They hype 3D sound, while overlooking stereo 3D. They did the same exact thing for the PSVR. They hyped up "with 3D sound!" and not a single word about it's amazing ability to play all the PSVR games in strong stereo 3D.

I have no hate for 4K, I think it can be a really great thing. But I will always take 3D over it all. Being immersed in a 3D world.. just nothing like it imo.

Sony better not drop the ball with this.. give us the 3D!
