I actually still like Hotel Transylvania and I enjoyed the animated Addams Family. But even I am surprised they greenlit a sequel already. I wish the animated smurfs movie would get a sequel.

Sony had nothing to do with the Addams family movie in fact universal studios has more to do with the the Addams family movie than Sony because the film was made by Mgm

Smurfs is an important property to Sony and even though Lost Village flopped in the US I don't think they'll stop making Smurfs movies. Though I think SPA is taking a break from them, now focusing on originals and Spider-Verse films.

Smurfs the Lost Village made 197 million on a 60 million budget so it wasn't a flop just not very successful. Though it is sad that the live action movies made more money.

True but most of the Sony animated films didn't do all that well...except for the Hotel Transylvania movies and Spiderman into the Spiderverse.
I am surprised that Addams Family animated movie is not a from Sony. |

Man, why does every animated film by a second rate studio gotta play into that horrible bland Illumination skit trailer format. I get it’s dirt cheap and doesn’t bamboozle the young kids to easily, but it such bargain basement creativity that goes into this shit.

In this case it’s probably because the animation isn’t finished and they aren’t ready to show actual scenes from the movie since it’s a year away from release. They wanted to market the sequel now since it’s October/Halloween season. That would be my guess.

The decision to adapt the original comic strip was a smart one, considering they couldn't compete with the 90s films for a better live action adaptation. It managed to capture the attitude of the Addams Family without feeling like a copy of what's come before.
