Odd. During these times you'd think they'd actually have way more time. Not to mention that 2021 is already full to the brim with movie releases, so it doesn't really make sense for this to be being rushed specifically for 2021. We don't even know what will happen between now and 2021 regarding the situation with covid and theaters, it could change even more to the point where even movies that were delayed to 2021 have to delay even further. We just don't know so it makes little sense to me, unless they are planning a VOD release. But, it's just a rumor.

Animation is gonna be a go to for a lot of studios. Considering the logistical problem of filming with actors and consequences of any one of them suddenly testing positive for COVID, animation can be done remotely and actors record their lines apart from each other.

Addams Family 2 may have been planned for 2022 initially but with COVID not going away an animated film, particularly one in a franchise is a low risk chance at money. I'd rather studios lean into kids animated fare right now (I know The War with Grandpa is doing surprisingly well now, as well as the rerelease of Hocus Pocus) than putting actors at risk for live action.

I do hope the overworked animators is just a rumor though. I wouldn't be surprised if the fallout from Tenet is what expedited this. They were probably counting on No Time to Die to make them a mint in 2021 but seeing Tenet underperform thought they'd need a fallback plan that would play to a wider audience.

Yeah, I also hope that rumor isn't true. It really doesn't make all that much sense to me to be rushing people when there's plenty of time. Rushing IMO is never a good thing for movies. The sequel to Independence Day suffered from that very thing IMO, since they were in a rush to get it made to meet deadlines, and wouldn't wait for Will Smith's contract to be over for him to come back for it. Not only that, but it can put the movie in a bad light if workers are not being treated right. Unless they just don't care and think that any publicity is still publicity, good or bad. But yeah, hopefully it's just rumor and they are being friendly with the animators.

It's going to be hard to top Raul Julia for Gomez, IMO. We'll see how it turns out.

If Burton is directing the whole thing they’ll just get Johnny Depp.

His movie career is over anyway.

They haven't done a film together in eight years. I think their collaborative efforts are over.

Have to say I wouldn't mind Depp as Gomez, maybe even try and get Eva Green as Morticia

When the animated Addams Family movie came out last year, someone on Twitter remarked that voice actors Oscar Isaac and Charlize Theron would have been great casting for Gomez and Morticia even in live-action, and I could totally see that.

Yep. Sounds like they recorded his dialogue and played it backward to get the voice.
