I’m intrigued in this on the basis to see if McKay can transition from his overt politics driven film to something a little more ambiguous. Should be interesting.

Interesting things about this cast -

If the billing of this movie holds and Jennifer Lawrence is top billed, this would only be the 2nd time in 25 years that Dicaprio would not be top-billed in his movie. It only happened in Django where he had a supporting role. (The movie Celebrity does not count because Woody Allen movies do not have a concept of billing.)

Dicaprio should get it since he can pull in audiences. J Law has been MIA since Passengers/Mother witch both flopped.

You forgot Red Sparrow passengers did okay. it made $300 million worldwide.

Plus its netflix. So does it matter? people watch any movie on there really.

Sources tell Deadline Chris Evans is joining the cast of McKay’s next film Don’t Look Up. He joins a cast that already includes Jennifer Lawrence, Leonardo DiCaprio, Meryl Streep, Rob Morgan, Cate Blanchett, Jonah Hill, Himesh Patel, Timothée Chalamet, Ariana Grande, Kid Cudi, Matthew Perry and Tomer Sisley.

Netfilx had no comment.

McKay will write, direct and co-produce along with Kevin Messick under McKay’s Hyperobject Industries Banner.

The film follows two low-level astronomers who embark on a media tour to warn mankind of an approaching asteroid that will destroy Earth. Details are unknown of who Evans would be playing.

Filming is currently underway in Boston.

After moving on from his time as Captain America, Evans continued to stay busy starting with his critically acclaimed work in the Apple TV+ limited series Defending Jacob. This is also marks his second Netflix feature he has also signed on to reteam with Russo Brothers in The Gray Man joining Ryan Gosling in the action pic.

He is repped by CAA and 3 Arts Entertainment.
