4 definitely needs a remake. For one thing, it'll be 17 years old in 2022. Second, the story needs cleaning up. It's a mess as is, and it ruined the series momentum by getting rid of umbrella off-handedly in the opening monologue. Correcting that mistake would be a major boon. Third, Ashley sucks. Ellie in TLoU was seven years ago. They can REALLY due with updating both Ashley's AI and her writing. Leon could use an overhaul too. He's a cocky dude bro in that game, and it's nothing like 2 or even 6's portrayal, where he was a dork. Confident at times, yes, but still a major loveable dork.
Also, moving while shooting. Yes please. Bring back the dodge from RE3 remake as well. Tighten up the castle, and if the island needs to stay, make it less of a boring slog with gun toting enemies. Everyone gave 5/6 crap for that, but it was 4 that started the trend. Same with the QTE's everyone complained about. Hell, have playable flashbacks to when Leon and Krauser worked together to make him actually relevant, as opposed to being just some guy that showed up and we were supposed to care about. There's a LOT they could do to improve 4 and I hope they do so. |

Would rather see Code Veronica remade, but I'm still up for 4, providing they don't cut as much out as they did with 3's remake.

Oh no, that would be disappointing. While I enjoy 4, this is where the series really started to go down for me. I was hoping for a remake of 1 in the Re engine so we could have the whole Raccoon city trilogy in the same style. Or Code Veronica that was never a great game to start with but that could definately be improved on.
But money wise, I can see why they'd skip both (one having already been remade and remastered even more recently and Code veronica not being a numbered entry). Four will make money. But with 7 and the recent remakes of 2 and 3, I was in Resident evil heaven. The franchise was finally back to being survival horror and the dark days of 4-6 were finally behind. With a remake of 4, a whole new generation would be introduce to the more action style, with Leon fighting giant Trolls from Lord of the rings. God I hope not. |

It's funny because i've said for a while now that Capcom is only ever able to make two good Resident evil in a row before disappointing. Res 1 and 2 on the ps1. Remake and 4 on the Gamecube. 7 and 2 remake more recently. Hopefully they break the curses!

They can take the cancelled RE4 and make a third Revelations title.
If any one of them needs a remake now more then anything, it's Code Veronica. Full stop on everything else until this gets done! |

I wouldn't mind these latest Resident Evil remakes and 7 if it was more like from the olden days when gameplay was less complicating.
If they do remake Resident Evil 4, then I hope they bring up the fog and Hook Man and mansion from the canceled 3.5. I was excited for Resident Evil 4 back in the day when I saw the 3.5 trailers. |

The original part 4 is a 15-20 hour game..its lengthy. Capcom has a big job ahead of them as they wont be able to drop a 3-4 hour campaign like they've been doing. code veronica would have been so much more exciting. I revisited re4 about 2 years ago on pc and it still holds up really while cv is nearly unplayable.

I played it once (rented it) and never went back. Now, 20 years later, i'm super excited to play the remake and I see it very differently. Sure, as a sequel it was hugely disappointing but it"s a nice aftermath to the whole Raccoon city incident and wraps things up beautifully. It makes for a great trilogy. But let's face it, back then, it never felt like a true sequel. Code Veronica was closer to that (and was supposed to be the real third game) but imo was worse than 3. Remake and 4 were both a huge upgrade, even if i've never been a fan of the direction 4 brought the series. Looking back, it"s really the first two games and both their remakes that I love (and now 7 that was such a revelation for me!). |

I'm kinda happy they want to give these titles ab update for modern times and maybe introduce them in a whole new way to people but there's just an absurd amount of unoriginal releases nowadays from studios that are capable of more if they would maybe concentrate on new IPs too.
