Resident Evil 4 Remake

With next year being the 25th anniversary of Resident Evil I'm hoping capcom has a big celebration planned. RE 8, the next remake, perhaps another revelation title or a new spinoff

I'll admit I haven't played the R3 remake yet (my copy is still wrapped and waiting for me, as soon as I finish God of war 4) but from what I remember, while the original Resident evil 3 was action packed, it wasn't super over the top like Code Veronica and Res4 ended up being. Or did they crank up the action in the remake? Seems to be similar to Res2 from what i've seen but I might be wrong.

Gotta admire how the source even considers it unfortunate it's not Dino Crisis getting a remake instead.

Sadly, according to the report by VGC, it’s not Dino Crisis, but 2005’s Resident Evil 4.

I haven’t played the original RE3 in years but the RE3 remake makes the shift into more action vs RE2 remake. So Capcom already started down the path you were referring to. Maybe not to RE4 level but it’s begun.

Dino Crisis would have been so awesome. Most people seem disappointed it's not Dino or Code Veronica and I agree with them!

2002’s remake should stay as is. Absolutely not necessary to try to revamp it like these new ones.

It would be great to bring it into modern times with a play style like the RE2 & 3 remakes.

I like the action re games except for 6. I love the horror games including 7. I'm easy to please, I just mostly adore the series.

Was hoping for Code Veronica however still excited that were getting a RE4 remake. I'm just hoping they take their time and not rush the game and cut it short like they did with RE3.

I don't understand why we have to have either horror OR action. Clearly both can and do work in many titles and tbh, i feel like if you can't make that work for Resident Evil, they're simply the wrong people to develop it. Dark, dank ominous surroundings in dangerous situations whilst letting you feel some sense of control. It's not like they are fixed to their "One bite you turn" philosophy or headshots kill them instantly. The atmosphere and action together can be one of the best things for the series.

The original part 4 is a 15-20 hour game..its lengthy. Capcom has a big job ahead of them as they wont be able to drop a 3-4 hour campaign like they've been doing. code veronica would have been so much more exciting. I revisited re4 about 2 years ago on pc and it still holds up really while cv is nearly unplayable.

One walkthrough through the game should not take 20 hours. More like 10 and that can be dropped to 3 if you are attempting a speed run.

Its significantly longer than 2 and 3 and re4 fans probably wont be forgiving if huge sections are missing like re3

If you aren't rushing RE4 it can easily take 15-20 hrs. One playthrough on PS4 took me almost 18 hrs because I just wanted to look around everywhere.

And they are. If you want to play with the outdated (IMO) controls, you still can. Like I said, I would love to see every Resident Evil game made in this engine.

Apparently they've been working on the RE4 remake since 2018, and it has a larger team than that of the previous two games.

If that's true, hopefully they avoid what happened with RE3's remake where a lot of original content got gutted and the campaign didn't have a 2nd playthrough like RE2 did.

RE3 reportedly had a smooth development. Much smoother than RE2. I think them cutting locations from the original was a conscious design choice as opposed to the result of any developmental drama. As for it not having a second campaign - well, neither did the original, so I don't think we can hold that against them.
