Thuppakki was released twice on Blu-ray, by AP International and Seyons.
From reading forum posts here I have gathered that the AP International disc's picture is more faithful to the filmmaker's intent and has the proper framerate but has some small parts of the film cut or muted, notably references to Arabic names. Meanwhile the Seyons disc claims to be the "Director's Cut" and explicitly states it has "over 3 minutes of added footage". The BBFC states the Seyons version is 2h49m35s. I have seen conflicting reports that the API version is 2h49m52s or 2h49m45s. In either case it would essentially make it the same length as the Seyons disc, with different framerates. So it would seem that both releases contain the same footage, but Seyons claims it is the Director's Cut, because the film was cut by about 3 minutes in cinemas in the UK. Thus the only question remains: does the Seyons disc contain any audio muting like API disc does? Or is it the full uncensored audio? Does anyone know? |
