Default PS5 - Monthly PlayStation Plus Game Collection Thread

We all know that Sony probably want to keep the PS+ and PS Now going, but give the changes to xCloud and Game Pass Ultimate alongside rolling Xbox Gold into it, but Sony probably wouldn't want to shake up a cash cow.

So, let speculation begin what PS+ titles will be offered. I don't think PS4 kicked off with a great selection as Driveclub got pushed for an age.

Monthly PlayStation Plus Games for PS5

The very first PS5 game to join PlayStation Plus is Young Horses’ ultra-charming, whimsical first-person adventure Bugsnax! Play an investigative journalist who has set out to explore Snaktooth Island, home to legendary half-bug half-snack creatures, Bugsnax. Discover, hunt and capture all 100 critters while also tracking down and reuniting the island’s inhabitants.

Bugsnax (PS5 version) will be available to PlayStation Plus members beginning on Thursday, November 12*** until Monday, January 4, 2021.

PlayStation Plus Collection For PS5

At PS5 console launch, we are pleased to add new benefits to your PlayStation Plus membership at no additional cost. This includes the recently announced PlayStation Plus Collection.

PlayStation Plus members will be able to enjoy a special new offering on the PS5 console – the PlayStation Plus Collection. PS5 console owners with PlayStation Plus will be able to redeem and play a curated library of PS4 games that defined the generation, like Batman Arkham Knight, Bloodborne, Fallout 4, God of War, Monster Hunter: World, Persona 5 and many more.

The PlayStation Plus Collection will be available* on November 12 when the PS5 console launches in the U.S., Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea, and November 19 when the PS5 console launches throughout the rest of the world, including Europe, Middle East, South America, Asia and South Africa.

Here are the games available in the PlayStation Plus Collection.

From Worldwide Studios:
  • Bloodborne
  • Days Gone
  • Detroit: Become Human
  • God of War
  • Infamous Second Son
  • Ratchet and Clank
  • The Last Guardian
  • The Last of Us Remastered
  • Until Dawn
  • Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End

From our third-party publishers and developers:
  • Batman: Arkham Knight
  • Battlefield 1
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops III – Zombies Chronicles Edition
  • Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy
  • Fallout 4
  • Final Fantasy XV Royal Edition
  • Monster Hunter: World
  • Mortal Kombat X
  • Persona 5
  • Resident Evil 7 biohazard

The PlayStation Plus Collection will be an added benefit to the existing PS4 benefits that PlayStation Plus members receive for a single subscription price – no additional membership fee required. Once you redeem a game from the PlayStation Plus Collection, you can keep the games for as long as you are an active PlayStation Plus member. PS4 games redeemed from the PlayStation Plus Collection and played on the PS5 console will see benefits such as increased loading speed and improved or more stable framerates with PS5’s Game Boost****.

Also, as seen in our user experience video tour, Game Help is a new feature on the PS5 console, and a benefit for PlayStation Plus members. Game Help is available for supported PS5 games and allows players to easily access hints without having to do a web search (and accidentally seeing spoilers!).

Check back with us on PS Blog for our monthly PlayStation Plus announcements. Additionally, you can also check our website as details will be updated regularly about our PlayStation Plus offerings, including the PlayStation Plus Collection.

*Number and availability of PlayStation Plus Collection titles may vary by country. The PlayStation Plus Collection is not available in China.
**PS5 console only; PlayStation Plus benefit not applicable for Bugsnax on PS4.
***Bugsnax (PS5) available to play in U.S., Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea starting November 12, and available on November 19, when PS5 launches throughout the rest of the world. Country availability may vary.
****PS5 console is backwards compatible with a majority of PS4 games. See here for more details.

PS+ was rubbish for a very long time after PS4 launched, 8 bit retro games and the like.

I'm expecting Horizon Zero Dawn to be free in the run up to Forbidden West though.

I'm not sure I would use PS Now even if they bundled it into PS+

I expect PS4 games mixed with an indie PS5 game, per month.

Maybe in a few years we get 1 Launch PS5 AAA game.

I was fortunate this year to get 12 months for about £35, but I do think Sony need to up their game to justify £50 for PS+, I actually only one game regularly online and lately I haven't been interested in the monthly "freebies".

Given how much space we have for storage, I've never understood why we can't upload screenshots and videos to this space to share with friends more easily. I'm using a fraction of my storage and I could probably delete quite a bit of it as I'm unlikely to revisit older games now.

It just seems like easy money for Sony but as a consumer I don't feel like I'm getting much in return. And remember on PS3, online gaming was free.

I never pay any more than £30/£35 for PS+, however thinking about it I only use the cloud storage. Might end up dropping the sub when it runs out in 2022.

I don't use the xbox much but isn't that how it works on there? Screenshots I took playing Forza were all uploaded to a server so I could open them up on another device etc.

I've said before Plus should be tiered. Bog standard online access should be no more than £20 really, it should be free but that's another debate all together.

Current price should be what it is currently with ps plus games each month.

Top tier should include PS Now as well. That would be about 120 a year

Basically just copy Microsoft and be done with it.

Best part about Now is that you can download most of the games now so you don't have to put up with the god awful streaming.

Unless I've missed a feature somewhere, you can't upload screenshots of videos to open on other devices. You can send images via messaging and communities, but these days when you share a video to youtube, you can't even watch it in the What's New feed. Sony's share system is very limited. I'd like to at least be able to load stuff to Google Drive from the console.

What do you mean by upload screenshots of videos?

I do agree their social aspects are a mess and they need a complete overhaul. What was promised is severely lacking and underbaked imo.

Ah, okay.

The only thing that i think semi works is that you have a Playstation App with PSN features for messaging and friend sends me pictures from elsewhere via that i can view on the PS4 if they're compatible as an image type recognised.

However i think i've also been sent a video link which opens up using a PS4 browser.

Personally i feel PlayStation Plus and Now need to merge and offer better value with a price cut. It's simply not justifiable to charge for online gaming when the PC market gets it for free, even with dedicated servers for those profitable as live service games or MTX being a solid lifeblood and so on.

The only reason Sony really has its own PSN is to harvest user data and let you buy on Playstation Store at inflated prices of RRP and so on where they maybe probably up to 30% off devs and publishers. They are not offering value for money and as i said elsewhere they have cut the primary consoles down to 1 from 4 this gen. They're slowly conditioning their userbase imo to accept when they screw you and don't apply lube.

Well, the primary goal was to speculate what PS5 titles we might get Day 1 or via PS Now even on a download basis. Hope we get something good tbh.

So will Bugsnax only be redeemable on the PS5 console? Also, is Black Ops III zombie chronicles the full Black Ops III game + zombie content?

Not to “overrate“ Hollow Knight, but really they couldn’t have gone with a better indie

Default Free PS5 games with PS+ question

I was not able to secure a PS5 preorder. Sony already said one game was going to be a free game for PS+ members in the future. If it takes me a bit to find a PS5. Will I still be able to add the PS5 free games to my library with PS+?

So PS+ titles can be redeemed via the PlayStation store but do we have any more details regarding redemption of potentially the PS+ Collection in the same way to use even if only accessible via PS5?
