I'd be really surprised if this is as merciless as a roguelike game where you die once and have to start all over, losing most of your progress. I bet the story is what drives the whole theme of her returning back in time as each location adjusts based on the story, progressing towards something different. The movie Edge of Tomorrow/Live, Die, Repeat was a very cool movie in this story theme, and also included alien creatures to battle.

Sony is likely pushing this as a mainstream game, so the difficulty probably won't be punishing unless the gamer selects that option.

As Iíve said, it will probably be a rogue like such as Hades were you start back at the beginning, but get some story and character tidbits with each death and gradually level up, unlock things etc to make future runs a tad easier.

Iíd expect it to be pretty challenging as House Marques arcadey prior games were.

I see what you're saying Dmaul.

I'll have to see a review before buying this one, to see if it's a game I'd consider playing. So far, the neon enemy monsters look neat, but not what I'm looking to play at the moment.

Yeah, Agree with this.

Seems like when you die triggers a "Groundhog Day" like moment. Maybe you carry your skills with each death etc.

Very cool concept. I pre-ordered today. I'm about it.

Not a surprise. I feel sorry for anyone who still assumes that the first announced release date will be a release date. Even in a world without Covid-19, but obviously especially with.

Whenever I see anything near a triple-A game get a release date these days, I automatically add at least a couple of more months onto that date. And we'll be lucky if this is the only delay date.

I respect the decision to delay it to make sure it's as good as it can be, but that pretty much guarantees I will be waiting on the game until sometime down the road.

I was beginning to have doubts about it anyways since I'm not big on rogue or even rouge like games even though I think this looks really good, so now combining that with the fact that it is coming out right before Resident Evil Village makes it easy to wait. There's also other games that might be coming out around then too, like Kena (at least the last time they mentioned a release window).

Yep. Especially with Covid I imagine this is going to be an extra slow first year for new games on the new consoles. First years of generations are always slow, was hardly any thing really worth playing on PS4 or Xbox One fate first year and a half or so. Imagine that will be the case this time with so many games shown at the reveals still not having release dates. Gamepass games will keep me busy at least as thereís a lot I missed and want to replay there, PS5 I probably should have waited and bought later. XSX is useful as my PC is old and doesnít run a lot of Gamepass games well and I never got an X1X.

So pretty much May 2021 for Returnal or later if another delay.
Same month as RE8.

Good point.

True, though CDPR used the final delay to start actually working on the PS4/XB1 versions.
