I’m writing off the “8K60” claims as marketing for the most part. Sure, select games will do it, but for modern AAA games? No way.

The 3070 is touted as about equal to a 2080ti (which has more VRAM) and that struggles to get 60 FPS on many games at 4K high settings.

Depending on the games you’re looking to play, IMO the 3070 is for 1440p.

Even though I'm playing at 1440p I think I'm going with the 3080 on September 17th (if I'm lucky to beat everyone to my local Micro Center).

Do you have a high frame rate monitor? It would be overkill if your monitor is only 60hz.

I have a 27" Series 9 Samsung (S27B970D) monitor. Pretty sure it tops out at 60hz but I am considering an upgrade at some point later in the year (4k not 8k).

That would be good then. Buying a 3080 and staying at 60hz would have been a waste of money.

144hz monitors are a must with these new cards. Gotta consider that when thinking of upgrading your card.

The BFG displays are good matches for these new high-end cards, until we get some decent miniLED gaming monitors at smaller sizes.

Looks like the ebay sellers have scooped the majority of them up and posted them with a markup, no thanks. Damn cards are pricey enough, eventually 3rd party cards will flood the market and drastically lower the cost so probably better off waiting a bit anyways.

Essentially the same thing just happened with ps5 and x series orders, bots just make it impossible for average internet users to get in on it. Hopefully most people are patient enough to not give in and pay the premium lazy internet resellers are trying to screw people out of right now. Just wait a month or two and save some money.

Hoping that dosent happen with the 3070s since Nvidia delayed the launch to ensure more stock when it goes on sale...… but who knows

unfortunately BOCW and Cyberpunk are coming out in the next 6 weeks or so, it would of been nice to play those games on the new gpu, but alas you are very correct with what is going on. I have been pretty unlucky, i had 2 orders cancelled after i placed them weeks apart for a card since they said they had no stock, and i have had the item in my cart a few times on Amazon and got beaten out to get it. 3080 makes the most sense for me do to the increased vram over the 3070 for the price, but no way will i get desperate enough to do ebay or amazon marketplace, can't support these re-sellers on these

Imo it's been a terrible launch for the 3080/3090 series. Between no stock, scalpers and then the 3080 crashes dues to some capacitors to the latest msi scam. I had a 3080 that evga sent me to review but sent it back due to games crashing so i am going to wait it out till the first of the year after amd and all these issues are ironed out.

Yeah doesn't seem to be going well for them, not sure what i'm going to do because honestly i don't think a 3 series card will even fit in my pc case , the cards look almost to be a foot long now.

Anyone use Radeon cards, i have been with nvidia so long i have not really bothered to look at the alternative?

There are some small 3070s. Maybe look into that for pc case.

I was on the queue for the EVGA 3080 FTW3 Ultra and got the email today and ordered.

Now to get a Zen 3 CPU on November 5th....

Randomly was able to grab a 3080 from Newegg tonight. Got lucky considering that I wasn't really looking that hard for an upgrade. The only issue is that I've read that 3080s aren't playing nice with 2019 LG OLEDs yet so I might have to wait for a firmware update to get the card working right.
