Like I said, it is firmly pushing the horror aspect in the trailer, making it look a typical teen horror even, but I strongly suspect they're hiding it's detective story following an adult ex-cop. I mean, why else would this be 2hrs and 17mins (which is lengthy for a major studio horror movie) if it wasn't also a slow burn detective movie?

I'm currently reading the comic and I'm starting to see why Disney doesn't want to put much attention to this if it's accurate to the comic. Because so far in the story (only two chapters in) The Empty Man is the name given to a pandemic level virus, only this virus makes you kill yourself.

I don't know why but that whole trailer feels like it was made by someone who fell in love with someone, and got cheated on and was dumped, got fired from their job and had all the bad luck. Then they got depressed, started to drink alcohol and get drunk, all while contemplating jumping off a bridge. Suddenly they thought how empty their life was, and how empty their bottle of alcohol was, and wanted to kill the people that did them wrong and gave them bad luck, but resorted to making this film instead.

By the way, The Empty Man being an urban legend to be summoned, the actual summoning ritual, and the 3 days rule is not from the comic book at all (I'm currently reading issue 7). I hope the movie has more and is more accurate to the awesome comic book otherwise this is going to be a brutal sit at 2hrs and 17mins.

As far as I know, the runtime hasn’t been confirmed either by BBFC (which lists runtimes down to the second when they rate movies) or by people seeing it. But that does seem to be the common time thrown out by different websites, seems a good half hour longer than a film like this should be.
