The Dukes of Hazzard - 4:3 [SD] vs 16:9 [HD] - Blu-ray Forum

There ain't a correct section for this, but this one is the closest to it. Now, this is a show that I love and so I've decided to make a comparison of the DVD version versus the HD one on Amazon Prime Video.

It looks really nice, but unfortunately it was cropped to 16:9 so that's something you'll either get used to it or you won't.

Comparisons - 4:3 vs. 16:9

If there is ever a Blu-ray release (a bit unlikely because this show is "racist" now), then I hope they'll give us the original full screen version and optionally the widescreen for those that want it.

I love The Dukes of Hazzard and I'm gay. (Not that being gay has anything to do with it) I don't believe this show is racist at all. They lived by good morals and helping others first.

They really weren't. Uncle Jesse once had a toothache and the doctor was African himself, were they bothered by that? No.

It's people who just see the flag and then assume it. I really hope they'll release the show in 4:3 HD because I love the picture quality.

Ah yes, they were just some good ol' boys that never meant any harm

I managed to find a set with the flag printed on top of the box several years after they had "disappeared" and were replaced by the pc police.

This is why I always buy physical media.

Personally I find the Confederate flag to be offensive, but that is really irrevalent with regards to this show. It is what it is; a product of its time. You can make your own choice of whether or not the show is something you want to see or not. I haven't watched any of it so I am not personally saddened if I don't but from a preservation standpoint it should be kept as-is, OAR and yes with the Confederate flag. It's as much a time capsule than anything else.

Hi all,

I just got done watching an episode (Season 4, Episode 1) and the HD quality is beautiful. Heck, I didn't even mind nor bother me since the cropping felt it was done selectively.

After seeing the Dukes with this picture quality it sure is hard to go back to SD/DVD.

ah why do they have to do all this awful cropping for everything, in some ways it can be worse than the old pan&scan, in many ways
