Blu-rays reading at 1080i, but studio claims it's 1080p - Page 2 - Blu-ray Forum

sorry to drag up this thread but i watched Region B U-571 last night and it played back in my ps3 as 1080i... even though the cover states full HD on the back.. whats going on there?

Yeah, it's that way for me also (it's actually region free even though it says region B) but the US version shows up as 1080/24p like I expected. Edit: The aspect ratios are different as well.

Uh.... 1080i60 and 1080p30 are the same frame rate. If the source material was recorded as 1080p30, you will not see any interlacing artifacts as long as you are not trying to deliberately de-interlace the signal.

The only time you would see a artifacts would be if it was shot in i60.

All flat-panel TV and panel-based projectors only work with deinterlaced images. Meaning that virtually all HD viewing systems in use will force deinterlacing.

What does flagged for progressive playback mean? I seen that on a review of a new Blu ray review of the Lost Weekend
