Default Batman 89 and Superman 78 comics coming from DC Comics Digital first than physical

DC
@DCComics
Return to iconic cinematic visions of Gotham and Metropolis in BATMAN '89 and SUPERMAN '78, out this July Clapper board https://www.dccomics.com/blog/2021/0...in-two-all-new #DCDigitalFirst

Batman '89 is written by Sam Hamm and illustrated by Joe Quinones while Superman '78 is written by Robert Venditti and illustrated by Wilfredo Torres. Both titles will debut six digital chapters on July 27, with six additional chapters arriving weekly after that. Once all 12 chapters of each story have been released, they'll be collected in six traditional comics released between August and October and then as hardcover collected editions in October for Batman '89 and November for Superman '78.

Quote:
Continuing the twisted adventures of DCís Dark Knight from Tim Burton's seminal classic Batman movies, Batman í89 brings in screenwriter Sam Hamm (Batman, Batman Returns) and artist Joe Quinones (Dial H for Hero) to pull on a number of threads left dangling by the prolific director. The gothic mentality behind the world, while still rooted in a sense of realism, helped inform many of DCís global fansí first impressions on the Dark Knight's Gotham. In the new Batman í89 comic, Hamm and Quinones will help usher in the return of Selina Kyle/Catwoman and will debut a new Robin! Plus, Quinones has a vision for Harvey Dent/Two-Face that is as close to movie magic as a comic can get!

Quote:
And in the vein of DCís plans for Batman í89, Rob Venditti (Hawkman) and Wilfredo Torres (Batman í66) will collaborate on Superman í78 to tell stories set within the world Richard Donner and Christopher Reeves created in Superman: The Movie. In Superman í78, bystanders are surprised and delighted by Supermanís abilities, and Lois Lane doesnít (yet!) know that Clark Kent is secretly Superman. The sheer thrill of seeing a man fly, leap, or stop a bullet will be reflected in this environment where Superman has just been introduced! Inspired by Donnerís classic, timeless style of superhero storytelling, in Superman í78 Venditti and Torres will show fans that a man can truly fly.

I am not a big comic book reader but I love these films so I will give them a shot.

I'm really looking forward to Batman '89. I also noticed that Batsuit underarmor is based on the Bruce Wayne figure that was released as part of Kenner's Batman Returns line, too, which I thought was a nice touch.

These have been great so far. I think Batman is better so far than Superman. Issue 3 is my favorite thus far.

Also Billy Dee Harvey becomes Two Face at the end of the issue

Read the Finale to Batman 89. I really enjoyed it. Nods to the movie were Alfred letting Catwoman into the batcave and the bat signal thing on the roof of wayne manor. Carmine Falcone had a short and I mean Short part in the book. Bruce gave Tim the Bat Bike and it has the cocoon feature the batmobile has but its a hologram. Catwoman was great still split down the center at being a an anti hero or not

I wish they could take this run and an animated movie with it or something.

That would be amazing which is why they probably won't do it.

I've had the collected volume of Batman 89 on pre-order for what feels like an eternity, but it keeps getting delayed...
