There are also only two subtitle options, but subtitles only seem to show up for the Japanese audio. I tend to watch Anime in English first as I like to really appreciate the art, so the subtitles won't match with the audio.

That's a shame. I picked up their Seven of Seven blu-ray and people have pointed out the defects on that disc and even their hentai blu-rays have suffered from similar misfortunes. I always see Media Blasters post stuff on social media (is it still John S.?) and he gets the masters they use sent to the company on hard drives from Japan, so I wonder why this isn't addressed. It's a shame, because they will be releasing some titles I want to revisit, but I may as well search for a used DVD copy. I have the AD Vision dual disc release of Doomed Megalopolis and the live action film they released as well. It would've been nice if they had the rights to that film.

I look forward to rewatching it. I seen this anime twice (Back in the late 90s and again in 2015), I didn't like it. Maybe the third time will be the charm. I also hope someone like Arrow will release the Megalopolis live action movies.

I've figured maybe a possible watch to watch it. My TCL 4K 50 inch has an overscan option. I hope it doesn't cut off the subtitles thats all.. Haven't tried it yet... But I see why it says 135 minutes It might have all 4 eps but it lists only 3.. Just reminds me of Pioneer's first dvd release where they failed to include a japanese track to much uproar .. I'm not sure how many have the English dub only version. It didn't last long

Unsurprisingly, Doomed Megaopolis is doomed with shitty upscales from betacam masters. Highly unlikely someone take the effort to find the film elements in a Japan vault, so how about no?

To be fair to Media Blasters, they only had so much to work with. You can't just press the enhance button, and hiring miracle workers to try is incredibly expensive. There are many, many people out there, including on this very forum, that flat out will not buy a DVD. MB had no choice but to put it out on BD. I wish they had been a bit more clear about how... not good it looks, and included the second dub like they promised, but it was kind of this or nothing. At least it's cheap. Who else would even bother to license it? (Don't say Discotek. They can't be literally the only company putting out vintage anime).
