Added the three volumes of Vision of Escaflowne that Imavision released in the early 2000s to the database. I used Wayback Machine to find info and cover art (although Vol 3's art never loaded properly so it's currently still blank)
Vol 1: https://www.blu-ray.com/dvd/Escaflow...-1-DVD/262034/ Vol 2: https://www.blu-ray.com/dvd/Escaflow...-2-DVD/262305/ Vol 3: https://www.blu-ray.com/dvd/Escaflow...-3-DVD/262306/ There was also a boxset, so I'll be adding that to the database as well Edit: just created, awaiting publishing Last edited by Tylerfan; 09-14-2022 at 12:45 AM. |

Don't know if anyone else submitted it but saw there wasn't an entry yet for the upcoming USA release for the Sword Art Online movie so went ahead and submitted a page.
Left the audio specs blank for now since I don't know if it'll use all of the exact same specs as the Japanese release. So if anyone buys it or sees an unboxing in the future feel free to update it; hopefully a site reviewer who monitors Aniplex USA titles won't be stubborn and keep your submission pending for months |

Got some changes surprisingly approved very quickly even though the page was reviewed which is usually months of waiting depending on the reviewer.
If you're simply submitting changes for things like slipcover/slipbox or inner print/reversible cover either link the URL of a used eBay listing that has a photo which confirms their existence or link the URL of a youtube unboxing with the timecode (Share, checkmark the box "Start at", copy) e.g. https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/fVIAA...qu/s-l1600.jpg youtube.com/watch?v=bKxu2JjWFec&t=255s Easier if the staff trusted our honesty but can't blame them if they want visual proof without having to spend time to check on their own |

I tried changing this from 300 minutes to 325 minutes with my comment being "runtime listed on the info sheet" and it was rejected by the reviewer that reviewed the uncut release which they never changed the runtime on.
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Sanka...Blu-ray/78601/ I have to wonder if they went "Amazon says it's 300 minutes, so 325 minutes has to be wrong." You can write an entire book about incorrect information on Amazon listings, so it should never be taken as gospel. Currently trying to go through my entire collection to add info or correct some false assumptions (Ex: Putting down 2 BD-50 or 1 BD-25 1 BD-50 (Ex: Every single release of the Fruits Basket remake used only BD-50s, Prelude is on a BD-25 though, even the included DVD is on a DVD-5)), so far things have gone smoothly except for that. [Edit]For anyone not aware, easy way to tell if something is a BD-25, BD-50, DVD-5, or DVD-9 is to flip the disc over and look at the number of rings in the center. If you see 1, it's a BD-25 or DVD-5, if you see 2, it's a BD-50 or DVD-9 even if the data size may be like say 23.8GB (Ex: The Life of Budori Gusuko is on a BD-50, it has 2 rings on the underside despite being slightly under 25GB.). BD-25: https://i.imgur.com/x4wCh8j.jpg BD-50: https://i.imgur.com/ZbojRR7.jpg DVD-5: https://i.imgur.com/D9RbKog.jpg DVD-9: https://i.imgur.com/zkw2CdV.jpg Also something of note, don't always be fooled by episode counts. I got Princess Tutu in, the 2018 release, and it was 4 BD-50s because of the 3 recap episodes and extras, so it's 29 episodes spread across 4 discs. Someone probably submitted it, but it hasn't been approved. The mods haven't been approving much over the past few days. My Saiyuki Reload: Zeroin listing still hasn't been approved days after I made it.
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/movie...=recentlyadded The strange thing is, DVDs have been going through fine, and those typically take longer to approve as the DVD database is viewed as a way lower-priority. https://www.blu-ray.com/dvd/movies.p...=recentlyadded Note: Reason you see the other Sentai titles already there is because I made the movie page first for Saiyuki Reload: Zeroin, then went to add the release so it took longer. Adding the release first causes problems, as a specific mod will create the page, add it under just "Animation" because they treat IMDb which doesn't have an "Anime" tag as gospel, and use the horribly compressed IMDb pic, and it takes a while to change it from "Animation" to "Anime". It sometimes has taken 2+ months to fix that. I always add the movie page first, then the release for this reason. https://www.blu-ray.com/Saiyuki-Reload-Zeroin/1651522/ Last edited by BigOnAnime; 12-19-2022 at 12:02 AM. |

ANN is usually my go to for DVD info, as they also usually have non-US versions too. But I'm wondering if their info is lacking for Kurokami as they don't have the Australian version listed and there seems to be listings on Ebay for a 2 part US set (like the Aussie release) also missing. (Or not?). My interest was because it seems the Blu-ray is dub only (with only the first 3 discs not rare and expensive).

While ANN has lots of those UK and Australian releases, they're also missing a huge number of them, especially because non-US releases have to be added manually by encyclopedia editors or by staff. If something is missing, it doesn't necessarily mean that it doesn't exist. Also good number of things are missing exact release dates, MSRP (there's no option to use non-US currency, so that's why you see USD instead of Pounds for example) and more importantly, the EAN.
There were also many US DVD releases still missing, but at this point, it's now a small handful as v_i and I should have gotten those in. Like two examples of a release that was still somehow missing untl almost a year ago. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/enc...s.php?id=42918 https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/enc...s.php?id=44427 On a different note, I've been continuing to make lots of corrections and additions here. You can see the stuff most recently added below, and by changing the country flag at the top and refreshing for non-US releases. I've also been slowly trying to get the often neglected Canada section up to date. https://www.blu-ray.com/dvd/movies.p...=recentlyadded https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/movie...=recentlyadded Can't be bothered to make a full post at this point of what I've recently added. A few things I do want to point out, I made a separate page for Kämpfer für die Liebe, and created the proper placeholders so things will show up. https://www.blu-ray.com/Kampfer-fur-die-Liebe/1599225/ I also fixed this release of Knights of Lamune which wasn't linked to anything at all. I got the missing show pages added, then created the placeholders to create a proper bundle. Also, can't remember which page it was, but one had a typo or the wrong spelling, so things weren't linking until it was fixed. https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/VS-Kn...lu-ray/270850/ Regarding some "duplicate" ADV thinpaks and a "duplicate" Neon Genesis Evangelion Holiday Edition you can see in the recently added DVDs, I recently learned they had some repriced in 2009 exclusively at Best Buy. They will have a sticker covering up the old UPC which has the new UPC and SKU, like so. Now I know why my copy of Blue Seed I got from RightStuf in December 2014 had that sticker and the UPC differed from like ANN. The ones with the missing covers, I can't find which thinpak release got repriced. I also don't have the UPC for the Angelic Layer one at this time. https://www.blu-ray.com/dvd/Blue-See...653/#Packaging https://web.archive.org/web/20090708...le_116106.html https://forums.theanimenetwork.com/t...es-in-july/624 https://twitter.com/WTK/status/1581521655784177664 https://twitter.com/WTK/status/1581528572556382209 That "duplicate" Escaflowne Blu-ray CE someone else added, that's not a duplicate. It's the reprint without the pendant. I completely forgot about that, and hadn't realized it also had a different UPC. Something I want to also point out, never set "TV series" to "No" and have only "TV-mini series" set to "Yes". This prevents one from adding the synopsis for individual releases and specifying the specific years. Someone recently set "TV series" to "No" for the second Sakura Wars OVA, which prevented Volume 2 from saying only 2000 for the year, this was just fixed. Also, when entering years, keep in mind OVA episodes. I recently had to change a bunch of Steins;Gate releases and the series page to say 2011-2012 as Episode 25 was an OVA episode from 2012, not 2011. Mushoku Tensei Part 2, that has an OVA episode from 2022. Dragon Maid S, that had an OVA episode from 2022 as well. Lastly, want to point out something I figured out with Best Buy covers. Recently I noticed someone had uploaded a very large and high-quality flat cover for FUNimation's Haibane Renmei Blu-ray, and wanted to figure out where they got it. I did a reverse image search, and discovered the URL trick one needs to make at Best Buy. You need to change "sa" at the end of the URL to "so". https://pisces.bbystatic.com/image2/...5319108_sa.jpg https://pisces.bbystatic.com/image2/...5319108_so.jpg It works even for rather old releases as well when they have just scans. Useful when Best Buy is literally the only place with a decent front cover that's above the minimum size (300x300). https://pisces.bbystatic.com/image2/...3413353_sa.jpg https://pisces.bbystatic.com/image2/...3413353_so.jpg Sometimes it'll be "sd" and the high-quality flat cover is already there. That's where I got it for Jujutsu Kaisen 0. https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Jujut...lu-ray/329219/ https://www.bestbuy.com/site/jujutsu...?skuId=6529660 https://pisces.bbystatic.com/image2/...6529660_sd.jpg I'm going to be slowly trying to upload flat covers when possible so things show more nicely in one's collection views. Nothing but flat covers looks a lot better. This URL trick also has led to me finding higher-quality covers of Sentai releases. I found a few on RightStuf a while ago, but it seems like Best Buy will have a treasure trove of them. Though sometimes for some reason, they scanned something. Like, how do they have the high-quality version of Undefeated Bahamut Chronicle's DVD, but not Chivalry of a Failed Knight when they have the high-quality Blu-ray cover? Don't get why they needed to use a blurry scan. https://pisces.bbystatic.com/image2/...2458474_so.jpg https://pisces.bbystatic.com/image2/...2458465_so.jpg https://pisces.bbystatic.com/image2/...2714206_so.jpg https://pisces.bbystatic.com/image2/...2714191_so.jpg Also, I've been trying to fix the fact that many releases don't have the slip image even though the front and slipcover are the same. Examples of how things should look. https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Strik...lu-ray/161804/ https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-P...lu-ray/321229/ https://www.blu-ray.com/dvd/Seiyus-L...es-DVD/128452/ (The change to the front is still pending days later for some very weird reason.) Make sure to put anything that's actually the back of the slipcover or an info sheet as "slipback" instead of simply "back". |

I've been glad to see that ANN's release encyclopedia has slowly been recovering from that dark period where no one could submit new releases, and indeed it looks to be filling in nicely for US anime releases.
Manga releases seem more hit and miss, and I've noticed a lot of high profile releases missing, unfortunately, so I tend to double-check the web for that end of the fandom still. |

Manga releases, one reason many can't be added is because of ISBN prefixes. So, before regular users can add certain releases, at least one release has to be added manually so that ISBN prefix is recognized in the database (this is presumably to make sure only relevant releases are added and to prevent bootlegs from being added), and most manga publishers are currently using ones with a capacity of 100 products, which when you add in the fact most stuff is released both digitally and physically, they burn through those like they're nothing, so you have to constantly add at least one release manually. Hopefully when the ISBN 978 prefix is finally done and everyone has to use 979, they'll go back to large ISBN prefixes with the really large capacities. Like VIZ Media's 1-4125 prefix had a capacity of 10,000 products and was finally exhausted around 2017.
BTW, the Amazon scraper unfortunately broke, again back in September. Still no idea when it'll get fixed. The Amazon scraper before it broke again, it was only partially fixed, it couldn't find the UPC on home video releases, so anything Amazon-only had to be added manually, ugh. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/bbs....php?t=3177820 Despite some ongoing problems, definitely glad that database is now mostly back up to date, helped by the fact I was made an encyclopedia editor in May 2021 (almost 2 years now, where did the time go?) along with v_i who is now focusing on VHS and obscure releases. For so many years, ANN's encyclopedia was my #1 resource for releases, it's invaluable. It also was a big help in getting missing releases added here. At this point, it's mostly just hentai releases missing from NuTech Digital and Adult Source Media that this site is missing for US releases. |
