With the Sentai Holiday Sale afoot, are we still lacking an answer as to whether or not the new Steelbook of Princess Tutu fixed the old BD's blended frames and other issues?

One Piece: Stampede - Periscoop Film NL BD
Gross. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() It's really disapointing to see such an atrocious Blu-ray after they released a decent Blu-ray of My Hero Academia: World Heroes' Mission this year. Since mediainfo doesn't show x264 encoder settings like MHA:WHM did, I sincerely hope that this was a shelved Blu-ray disc that was intended for release in 2020 (only the DVD got released). Things are not looking well for Evangelion 1.11/2.22/3.33. I will be checking 1.11 tomorrow since Bookspot shipped mine. BDInfo Yes, the disc label says Peace instead of Piece lol. Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny - US/UK BD vs JP BD
This time the US/UK BD has the correct RGB levels, but unfortunately the encode exhibits the same kind of horizontal line banding that can sometimes be spotted on Madman's encodes: https://slow.pics/c/MSep7GeS US/UK BD ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() JP BD ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I suspect that this may be some kind of issue with how Nozomi exports the intermediate video file from the master. Interestingly, I hooked up the player to the Samsung 4K TV in the living room and the dither pattern cleaned up the banding lines. Having some kind of undefeatable dither is perhaps not a good thing, but in this case it's beneficial. Some additional screenshots which may or may not exhibit those banding lines: US/UK BD ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() JP BD ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() BDInfo US/UK BD episode 01 Code:

Got the UK release of In/Spectre today. While an improvement over the Viz release, it unfortunately seems to exhibit some of the same issues (screenshot taken with MPC):
[Show spoiler] Would anyone know how something like this happens? Other scenes in the first episode exhibit noticeable amounts of banding and contrast in general seems higher (incorrect gamma/black levels?) in addition to crushed details in dark areas. The CR stream doesn't have these issues. For reference, here is what the same scene looks like on CR: [Show spoiler]

This one is the correct version and matches the Japanese BD. It's not unusual for changes to be made to lighting and such between broadcast and home video. Unfortunately the method they've used to do so has probably caused a lot of the banding in that image.

Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid S - Crunchyroll UK/US BD
https://slow.pics/c/Qa8Wv0PH The irony is that CR/Funi use a deband filter (their filter tends to destroy detail in darker parts of the image) |
