Anybody care to weigh in on how the US blu-ray looks? Solid encoding or Decals usual crap standards?

Preordered MUBI disc after renting this from Itunes. Liked it very much. The lead is super talented.

I like those MUBI releases for their cases. Kinda like Criterions they use those scanavos that have the artwork cover the whole...cover.

UK Blu ray is censored with multiple black screens so very strange (unless every version is the same) but it’s said that censors did require cuts.

The UK passed the film uncut so the disc should be uncensored. The note on the BBFC site is referring to the film’s trailer which was cut from an 18 rating to a 15. I don’t remember any black screens in the film when I saw it but I’m pretty certain there is only one (uncensored) cut of the film because iirc A24 let go of Pleasure because the filmmaker couldn’t/wouldn’t deliver an R rated cut.

I can confirm that the German disc ALSO has the black frames so it must be part of the films design.

I picked up a copy of the German version.
Will watch it over the weekend and see what all the fuss is about

Yeah, but what purpose would those black frames serve?
Surely they do not work as censorship.

Well, I've watched it, and I have to say it's been kind of a disappointment.
I mean, it's not porn, obviously, although it does show its fair share of genitalia. But it doesn't do much on any other front either.
Actually, it does occasionally elicit laughter or make you want to kick the lead in the butt.

For instance,

[Show spoiler]she deliberately signs up (I mean, she insists on it) for doing rough scenes (truly revolting stuff) and then she feels sickened by it, and understandably so. To the point of wanting to give up and go back to Sweden. What next? She has a phonecall with her unwitting mother who tells her to sleep on whateveritis that's bothering her daughter. Next thing you know, she asks to do a double an@l with two black fellas. Oh, and that she'll be doing for free, you know, to kick start her career! You gotta be friggin' kiddin' me

She actually trains her butt for such a challenging performance.
And the way she looks incredibly proud for having had two big black youknowwhat up her a## it's beyond ridiculous. She says "It was my first an@l. It was double. And interracial. It's never been done before!". Yeah, talk about giant leap for mankind

So, a pretty useless flick in the end. Neither meat nor fish. It will give you a bland, a real bland look at porn business dynamics, but that's about it. And forget about any explanation (other than boredom for her life in Sweden) about the motives that push a young girl, seemingly from a decent family, to embrace with such determination and enthusiasm the worst of the worst of porn.

p.s. I reckon the black/white frames serve an "artistic" purpose, like she's blankin out or something like that, for an instant, while on the job.

You have to respect NEON for releasing this in theaters. They stuck to their NC-17.

The Neon/Decal US disc is fully uncut correct? No black bars? Or is it the same version released on disc everywhere else with the bars?

All versions have the black outs. It’s not cuts apparently.
