Pacific Rim: Uprising, though for the most part not as good as the first film, it stands firmly amongst the pack of worthwhile sequels like Ghostbusters 2, Fright Night part II, Gremlins 2, Jaws 2, Critters 2, Predator 2, Back to the Future part II, Temple of Doom, and Poltergeist II.
In some ways I prefer Uprising to the first in terms of the action. Del Toro's film was immersed in rainy nights making for at times murky visuals. Uprising has action scenes that are clear as day. Overall Uprising imo holds up well to Gullermo's film for sheer rock em sock em robot vs monster spectacle, visual fx, and cool factor. Last edited by jess1581; 11-28-2022 at 04:59 AM. |

Shawshank reminds me of The Giver, where the protagonist dies but somehow the story continues, I guess it's a dying hallucination or something. Quote:
1) No Nazis 2) Less cartoonish ultraviolence 3) far less annoying "Indy Girl" 3a) Indy Girl has a character arc 3b) Indy doesn't simp for the Indy Girl Minecarts > boulder run. Although Short Round kinda sucks, maybe kids liked him? But they didn't like Anakin so ![]() Raiders is certainly more iconic though. |

I watched both of the Gremlins movies for the first time this month, and I can confidently say that Gremlins 2 is leaps and bounds better than the original.

Am I the only one who don't really care for the FoX-Men films?
They haven't held up well over the years, they waste characters and plot lines left and right, barely show respect for the comic materials, kept pushing Hugh Jackman and Jennifer Lawrence to the point of ridiculousness, and yet people still treat it as a "venerable franchise"? GTFO. Feige needs to take off his nostalgia goggles before they need to be surgically removed because they don't deserve a big fancy "proper' ending in Secret Wars like it's rumored. They deserve to just be left in the past and ignored to be honest, enough is enough. Also, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine is one of the most overrated comic book movie castings of all time. Anyone who thinks he's the definitive Logan deserves to get their opinion on comic adaptions ignored. |

Scorsese's best films are not his gangster/crime films but his quieter films. The Aviator, Silence, Kundun, Age of Innocence and Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore are perfect films and deserve more praise and attention than something like The Departed or Wolf of Wall Street.
