I haven't watched all the episodes yet, but there hasn't been anything inappropriate. I would definitely show this to young kids

Oh, right. Forgot to say, so I bought some titles for myself as non-Christmas gifts as well right before the sale ended! Here's my other purchases!

Very excited to watch these!

I went in with basically no info about it and ended up loving Arion.

Arion is a masterpiece, I absolutely loved that film. Felt like a proper greek epic.

With all the high praise I read about the movie, I went into Arion expecting it to be very good, since I've always been a big fan of Greek and Roman Mythology. I watched it one weekend a couple months ago with my oldest daughter and her fiance, who are big anime fans, and my mother, who also loves both mythology and anime, and we all came away thinking it was just OK to mediocre; it's not really something I would bother watching again. I just didn't see what all the praise was for. I was so disappointed, as I really wanted to like it... Oh well.

So does discotek try to go for shows that have lost media for preservation sake or just ones that have business selling appeal?

Both. If it won't sell, then there's no point in releasing it. They're not a charity.

The rousing speech portion of the film was hilariously bad - "I met a girl and I fell in love and she's my sister so let's go to war!"

Arion looks great though. I know looks aren't everything but a lot of anime do historical dramas and they still look just like standard anime but with period costumes. Arion looks like a proper greek drama at least.

To me it's one of the gems of the Discotek collection. Anything by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko rocks but Arion is just that good.

Which reminds me, Giant Gorg blu ray when Justin?

Serious question for Justin. Since it seams Gavin is a really big seller on RSA are the 5 Metal Hero shows that make up VR Troopers and Beetleborgs a possibility? I heard Hasbro may or may not have the final say with those. If so is it possible to make a deal for those? Since they haven’t done anything with Metal Hero since those two shows I wonder if the rights have lapsed? Like either use it or lose it like Hasbro did with Kamen Rider Black RX, which I hope Discotek gets too. I want all of the Metal Hero on BD and any Kamen Rider you can get!

The only thing missing from Arion is a good English dub, but that was simply out of reach for the title's licensing and release budget. Perhaps if it ever gets to UHD-BD, we'll get one.

I recall Mike Toole actually pushed for Arion to be dubbed, but the M&E tracks were unavailable.

We looked into dubbing it, but the music & effects tracks appear to be gone (necessary to make a dub.)

Arion is among my favorite releases too!

All fans should also check out Venus Wars, Giant Gorg, and Crusher Joe too.

That's a bummer, but on the other hand it provides more evidence that Discotek really does try to create the best release possible, and if anything is missing or sub-par it isn't because of laziness or lack of care.
