A masterpiece of a film but one I could never watch again. Very powerful stuff. I think that drug addicts, upon seeing this film, would quit right there.

I read the book and let me tell you, it is an incredible story. However, it did not translate well to film, despite one great actor (Downey Jr.), one good actor (Foxx), and one of the best young directors (Wright). What made the book so good was its exploration of the reasons for homelessness and what has been done about it (which is VERY little). The movie was a total disappointment.

Incredible acting by Ben Foster and Woody Harrelson. The movie has a curious flow to it. As it unfolds, the viewer sinks into the complex characters on screen. I wouldn't be surprised if this gets several Academy Award nominations, including best picture. Highly recommended.

That was one of the best sci-fi films I've seen in a while. Nothing over the top, just simply one man and isolation. Great job by the filmmakers. Just watched it again tonight.

Priceless (Hors de prix)- Staring Audrey Tautou and Gad Elmaleh. A great romance film about gold diggers and their sugar daddies / mommas. It started out a bit slow, but then got better. Overall a worth purchase as both of us really enjoyed the movie. Esp for 7.99.

The Alphabet Killer - Watched this on HDTV lastnight. I guess this is based on a true story! The movie was weird and overall I didnt care for it even though the beautiful Eliza Dushku starred in this! Its about a cop looking for a killer who is killing and raping lil girls with the same starting letters in their first and last name! I give this movie a 4/10! I do have a question if anyone can answer? SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!


The ending I didnt get fully. She figures out who the killer is but he escapes, she is then hospitalized and the killer is never found as of today as again its based on a true story but what Im curious of is she knows who the killer is so are the police not listening to her because of her disease or did he smash town? He was seen at the same church before it went off! The ending was weird! Anyone have a take on this let me know!! Got Em!!

Watched King of New York last night on blu, love the movie and over all a good transfer. I would not rate the PQ as high as the offical review here however as I did notice banding in a number of scenes that wasnt even mentioned in the review. Now this could be an issue of the actual print but would have to watch the dvd to compare.

Move- 8/10
PQ- 7/10
AQ- 9/10 (wish I had 7.1 to take advantage of this release)

I can't remember which one I watched last, it was one of these two:

"Playtime," a Criterion Blu-Ray I blind-bought. It is a bit long and has a weird plot, but the sets were visually fascinating and there were a lot of funny moments throughout (some of which I felt were reflective of real life sometimes). It's definitely a keeper. (4/5; BD has gorgeous quality)

"9," blind-bought the Blu-Ray from the local store. It is short and kinda slow-going in a way, but I enjoyed it anyway. I liked all the characters and the settings were interesting. It's a keeper (4/5; BD has wonderful quality too).

I'm right there with you on that sentiment. My wife was begging me to turn it off, but I hate not finishing movies, even when I don't like them.

Inglorious Basterds (Blu-ray)

10/10, , 5 out of 5 stars, and an Eli Roth with a baseball bat!

I watched Basterds for the second time on Sunday night, the first time was at the theater on opening day. What a great movie! From begining to end I was glued to my seat. The acting is spot on (mad props to Christoph Waltz!), the dialogue is great, and you can cut the tension with a knife! This is a must watch!

Damn it. Thats why I netflixed it. I just couldnt get there. Is the payoff at the end worth all the suffering?
