Thank you so much. I was just wondering because my bf bought both season 2 & 3 of the series and season 2 had its slipcover but season 3 didn't for some reason.

Like I know 1 time I ordered a game from Amazon that had some exclusive mini-poster that was only available through them. When my copy of the game arrived, it didn't come with it even though it was a 1st press copy. However, the video game company screwed up and forgot to supply those mini-posters to Amazon. So I emailed them about it, and got my mini-poster. Plus I remember when Funimation screwed up on Afro Samurai: Ressurrection or how they didn't make enough Blu-ray copies of Summer Wars Blu-ray and there wasn't enough 1st press copies even before the release date which led to not enough slipcovers on the Blu-ray version. |

Sorry for the necro of this thread.
After plowing through HxH late last year I decided to dive into Togashi's other work that I never saw when I initially got into anime. Almost finished the first season and I'm really liking it so far. Dub is really good and the remastered transfer is gorgeous. It's like an ode to the days of hand drawn animation. |

I am FINALLY upgrading my DVDs of this to Blu-ray as this was and probably still is my favorite anime. Although I did notice one thing. Would it be best to assume the OVA collection is probably going to remain DVD only?

Probably but I am more concerned about the 2nd movie. I badly want the re-dub with either on Blu-ray or even just DVD. 1st Movie did with that OVA Collection but the 2nd movie is still in limbo with the 2nd Cardcaptor Sakura (Cardcaptors) movie.

It looks like the new steelbooks had the discs repressed (my set has ep1-10 on disc 1 while the new one has 1-8) and has an extra disc just for special features.
I might have to upgrade.. @ProfessorWho You reviewed the old sets, will you be comparing the new ones to the old? Last edited by different; 09-02-2019 at 04:01 PM. |

I’d love to compare them, but that requires me to buy the new Steelbooks. I’m not a Steelbook guy, so it’s really the discs I’m curious about- that said, it could simply be the old encode spread out differently, so unless I know for sure, then I'm holding off on getting it.

My copy shipped early from RightStuf (shipped on Friday with The Tatami Galaxy) and should be arriving tomorrow. The lack of inside art is definitely disappointing, it's very, very, very rare for FUNimation releases to not have them (it's been standard for them since like forever, something I've always liked about their releases), though a few things in the last few years strangely didn't have it like My-Hime (why, how?).

Since they're not cramming 9 or 10 episodes into each disc, it looks like the episodes might be encoded at a higher bitrate this time, but my problems with Funimation's previous BD release of this show had less to do with the picture quality than with the woefully incomplete credits (they list each episode's writer, storyboard artist, director and animation director, but none of the Japanese voice actors and key animators) and those stupid overlays on the episode title screens.

Funimation does it again, guys. The disc info is incorrect and these are the exact same discs as the old release. Disc 1 says episodes 1-8 but has 1-10 on it, uses the old Funimation "you should be watching" logo and includes the DBZ Kai Part Five advertisement from years ago. Same discs and each has the wrong episode listings. I haven't put in any of the other discs yet but will update later.
Disc 1 says 1-8 but is 1-10 Disc 2 says 9-14 but is 11-20 Disc 3 says 15-22 but is 21-28 Disc 4 is special features, 23-28 not listed at all. Looking Back at a Legacy is 17 minutes in length What is going on with Funimation? Can they not do anything right? Last edited by InuYashaCrusade; 09-03-2019 at 05:06 PM. |
