I'm wondering which release date we should be using.

The BluRay release date or the actual date you can purchase the UV copy on sites like Vudu and Cinemanow. Some titles are released two weeks or more before the Bluray release.

For a Good Time Call... I purchased a few weeks back and the bluray release won't be until Jan 22, 2013.

I think this is an issue without a really good solution. Is there a way to tell when a UV copy first became available? None of the UV providers seem to list a first available date. Thus unless we can conclusively prove when a UV copy first became available I think we should stick with the Blu-ray release date; at least for much older UV copies. Others it will just lead to Garbage In, Garbage Out (GIGO).

In your example though it's obvious the UV copy is available earlier but do we know the exact date when it first became available?

I realize it might be difficult for older releases but, now that we are tracking Digital copies we do know when they are released on sites like Vudu and Cinemanow.

Just putting it out there for those that we do know are released early should this be information that is added to the UV db.

But how do we know that? I mean unless we specifically checked for a specific title on one day and we know for sure it wasn't there and the immediate day after it is available how do you know the exact release date? Is it posted some where on these sites for new releases?

Vudu does have the coming soon section which lists availability dates for upcoming releases but a lot of those aren't currently listed as UV compatible right now. So, when do these digital copies become UV?

Then it becomes one site had a UV enabled copy of a particular movie prior to another site. Then on another title that other site might have it before the previous one. Just seems to be very messy but there doesn't appear to be a perfect solution at the moment.

The UV section is for any UV compatible digital title whether or not it comes with a blu-ray.

A note on Fast Five, although it came with a Digital Copy code only Universal is now allowing you to redeem it at Vudu for the UV compatible version. You'll need to go through Universalhighdef.com to redeem it though.

I redeemed my Fast Five digital copy and now have a UV compatible version which plays as HDX on Vudu.

Yeah thanks. I figured out what was going on a little while after posting that so thats why I deleted it.

As for the Universal codes.... I am entering a few codes that were DC codes and trying to get them to go to Vudu but they all say invalid and none of them have expired? Any ideas as to why? (The movies I tried were Apollo 13 and Back to the Future Trilogy)

So anyway, has one of the dev's or whomever figured out what poster art will be used for the UV movies? I saw that someone said use Vudu art and 2 people said to use the UV art? Asking cause a few of them are off already. Example is Batman Begins. I dont see the art we got here anywhere? When we got a definite answer to this, then say someone else uploads a pic of the art, for whatever movie, should we photoshop a UV logo on the bottom left or is that gonna appear automatically through the system?

The UV logo automatically appears on the bottom already, no need to add it. The problem you will have with the art work is right now there is no real standard Vudu, Cinemanow, Flixster, and UVVU.com all may have a different cover art for the same movie. Sometimes it will be the same on all UV sites but, not always.

Yeah thats my point. It was discussed on what pic to use earlier in this thread but no definite or final answer was ever given by a mod or dev. Thats what I am asking. Which one are we gonna make the standard?

For example, American Pie 1, American Pie 2, Nutty Professor, Born on the Fourth of July, Paul, Hanna, etc redeem as SD. Fast Five, Contraband, Safe House, etc redeem in HD.

No I never used actual Digital Copies discs before. Just started this whole UV thing last week and only cause I read it will be the foundation for digital copies across the board for the future. And the movie codes wont work at all on Flixster, UniversalHiDef or Vudu. Matter a fact Flixster doesnt have the movies in their database. Universal and Vudu do but says the codes are invalid when I KNOW they were never used.

On two of my UV titles when I goto the dvd listing to add the UV it doesnt have a parent, how do i add the UV without the parent?

Based on the recent changes to the site, you'll need to first add the parent (under Theatrical) and once it's approved you'll then be able to add the UV title.

Well both titles have a DVD entry so there must be something wrong with the entrys that there isnt a parent.
