"The Batman" solo film rumored for 2019

With Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice League currently in production, Justice League on the horizon, and an ambitious slate of DC films rumored, what are Warners' plans for the Batman?

Warners made the surprise announcement last August that Ben Affleck signed on to play Batman in multiple movies, which includes the two movies already mentioned, but what about a standalone Batman film?

According to sources, I'm hearing the studio is eyeing 2019 for the standalone Batman film and I even got a working title: THE BATMAN.

Let's break it down. Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice League should be ending production in December, then they break for the holidays and go into production on Justice League in the winter of 2015.

Affleck then takes a break from donning the cape and in the summer of 2015, he writes, directs, and stars in his period gangster film Live By Night. The film's scheduled to hit theaters in October 2016. The studio has the time after Live By Night's release to develop the screenplay to the standalone Batman film ready to start production either in 2017 or 2018. It wouldn't surprise me if they actively start developing the script after Justice League or sooner.

The question is whether Affleck will direct the stand alone Batman film. It is a good possibility since Affleck is now one of the studio's signature stars headlining as one of its signature characters whose last directorial effort Argo took home the best picture Oscar. Remember, Affleck's deal to play Batman took months for his agent at WME and attorney at Ziffren to close. Perhaps the contract contains a clause or a separate rider in his deal for directing services.

Again, 2019 for the standalone Batman film is what I'm hearing the studio's plan is, which is of course subject to change. Years may pass before my story's official confirmation, so, therefore the hot rumor label. The studio has five years of future Hall H Comic Con presentations to play with. Personally, I'm excited to see what Affleck brings to the role of Batman and think he's the hottest choice of the last 25 years to don the cape.

Justice is set to dawn nearly two months earlier than originally planned! Warner Bros. Pictures has moved the release of their highly anticipated superhero team-up Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice to March 25, 2016! The original date of May 6, 2016 had the film opening opposite Marvel Studios' Captain America 3. It will now go up against Dean Devlin's Geostorm and Bret Ratner's Beverly Hills Cop.

The Zack Snyder-directed action adventure also stars Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter and Scoot McNairy.

Don't wanna be a cynic or a party pooper but I'm more worried, than excited, about the newer release date. I know it's only two months, and it's still years away, but with the heavy use of CG today it's a long, laborious process that usually requires more - not less - time. So now I'm left asking, why are they able to release it two months earlier?

To be fair, BvS was originally scheduled for May 2015, so it's not that huge a jump.

They're gonna have something like 18 months of post-production (Oct '14-Mar -16). And that's just on the last shots done for principle photography, as the stuff they've currently shot is probably being tweaked right now. Most productions of this scale nowadays have less than half that time.
