Default Expired UV Codes - Still Working, Except Sony?

I just decided to go through my collection yesterday & today and do what I've put off forever: add each movie to my Blu-Ray.com collection, and redeem all the UV codes.

The interesting thing is that there are a LOT of expired UV codes among these discs, and so far ALL of them have worked with the exception of the ones from Sony Pictures, of which NONE have worked.

Is this known information? Seems that Sony's expiration dates are actually accurate, but nobody else's seem to be.

Is there any way to redeem the Sony expired codes? I highly doubt it, but I figured I'd ask. I think it's just two movies for me so far: Drive and Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

I have redeemed a few expired codes directly at Sony. Since they weren't showing up as redeemable at Vudu anymore. They oldest one i redeemed at Sony was Don't be Afraid of the Dark on 12/3/14. It had expired in January.

Most studios have pushed expiration dates past the printed date.

This sucks! So my copy of Colombiana is not going to work? It says it expired on 12/20/13.

Also noticed my Resident Evil: Retribution 3D says the UV expires on 12/21/14. Oh no!!

UPDATE:

I called Sony today and told them about my concerns. They told me that all the codes that had been set to expire were extended (paraphrasing) and assured me my codes for these movies would be good. I took note of his name in case I had to revisit the topic with them and then went to my computer to redeem. Voila! They both redeemed. Very pleased!

That's interesting... maybe I should call them about Drive and Monty Python & The Holy Grail, because neither one will redeem for me.

I don't understand why the studios ever established expiration dates in the first place. Discs can sit in a retail outlet for years at a time. What's next, self-destructing BDs? (no bronzing jokes, puhleese)

I love the Sony site for redemptions. Whenever I've had a problem with redemption or SD/HD problems, I call their Customer Service and they take care of me with very few hoops to jump through. I usually try to redeem through all of the studio sites, but I feel Sony's is definitely one of the better ones now.

I just tried several codes from Warner Bros and they did not work. Doesnt surprise me. The people behind these services have **** for brains.

Well, Ice Age 4 is still valid after the date. But won't work in connection with my newly made Blinkbox account. It asks me to choose a service, but Flixter is the only option. Hahaha. Ok, guys. Good one.

If you don't mind, can you tell me how you got a UV code for Monty Python & The Holy Grail? I bought the blu-ray a several months back, but no code was in there. Very interested in adding this to my UV collection if such a code does exist.

So I decided to try D2D, and it's available?

I swear the BD I got had no code, and D2D wasn't an option for this film. But I bought it like 8 months ago, so maybe it became available during that time.

In any case, win! Got MP&THG UV now.

Good to know. I think I have a couple at home that I didn't even try since they were expired. I'll have to try them when I get home.

if you run into an expired code that doesn't redeem, most studios* will issue you a new code to replace your expired code. for example: lionsgate is great about this. you just have to call them. they'll send you an email ticket, you take 2 photos, one of the card, one of the disc cover. they'll issue a new code.

*sony is the only studio that will not work with you on an expired code.

I have probably used 20 expired codes in the last month from various sources. All of them worked just fine. The only issue I had was a blank one for the dark knight. Warner/flixter treated me like an a-hole theif. Tomorrow they will be getting a nastygram from me. I don't typically send emails like that, but I didn't ask to buy a blank form, and I don't save every receipt, I have nearly 500 blu's.

The slip was missing in my The Holy Grail Blu-ray, and Sony treated me like I was trying to pull a fast one.
