I could well imagine that they'll make a film of that, but not till it finishes its run at the theatre. It's still going strong in NYC and London and more productions are planned to open. An adaptation now would cut into the theatre box office. I could see this being made into a movie once the Fantastic Beasts films have finished.

If they're going to replace David Yates, Mike Newell should come back. I think he managed to balance the darker tones with the lighter Wizarding World from the first two movies better than any of the others. It would be cool if they got Alfonso Curón or Guillermo Del Toro to do one, but I think the time's passed for them.

Then again the only real issue I have with Yates's movies are how dark they look. I don't think they'll replace him, J.K. likes him and she has a large say in the direction of the franchise.

Fantastic Beasts 3 Casts Jacob Tremblay As Young Voldemort

Room actor Jacob Tremblay has been cast in a "substantial" role as a young Voldemort in Fantastic Beasts 3. The next entry in the Harry Potter prequel series is expected to begin filming in fall 2019, following a production delay, though it's supposedly still on track for a November 2020 release.

Now the connections between the two series are about to get even stronger, with Harry Potter's greatest nemesis entering the fray. The news of Tremblay joining the cast was announced in a press release, with producer Steve Kloves saying, "We are delighted to have a young talent like Jacob join the Wizarding World, and we can't wait for fans to learn never-before-revealed details about Voldemort's childhood." Producer and screenwriter J.K. Rowling added, "This part of Tom Riddle's life has been in my writing notes for twenty years." The press release itself doesn't offer details about exactly how young Voldemort will be incorporated into the story, but it does say that Tremblay's role will be "substantial."

Tom Marvolo Riddle, the boy who would grow up to be Lord Voldemort, was born in the 1920s, and a child version of the character was played by Hero Fiennes-Tiffin (nephew of Ralph Fiennes, who played adult Voldemort) in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. The Fantastic Beasts films will cover a span of time from the 1920s to Gellert Grindelwald's eventual defeat in the 1940s, so this casting news makes it clear that Fantastic Beasts 3 will jump forward in time to the 1930s.

3 years is a long time between sequels nowadays. I think this is a sign that they're reconfiguring the series after the tepid response the last one got.

Crimes of Grindelwald killed the already minimal interest I had in this series. Here’s hoping this one can actually get a decent screenplay. If it is good though I will definitely acknowledge that because I do want to like these. I am hoping too that they scrap the 4th and 5th altogether and just make this the final one so we don’t get two more unnecessary filler movies.
