He means Deep Discount (formerly Deep Discount DVD):

Not Quite Hollywood link

They should be having a 15% off sale sometime next month, so I'd hold off.

Yeah, sorry - my bad. Years after the name change and my brain still adds the "DVD" to the name.

My copy, directly ordered from Umbrella, has been shipped today. Now, the long wait begins.

Got my copy of this yesterday:

This is truly a fantastic release that goes very well with the Electric Boogaloo/Machete Maidens Unleashed set released earlier this year and while it only has DD 5.1 audio it looks and sounds great.

The extras meanwhile are truly fantastic and there is a LOT to dive into and all of it is well worth doing so esp the deleted scenes commentary track, the interviews with Hartley himself and the 185 glorious minutes of ozploitation trailers if you have the double disc DVD of this ditch it and get this it is well worth the replacement.

Can anyone tell me if this is a region-free disc and if that includes the extras as well? Would love to get this, but I don't have a region free player yet. I know many Umbrella releases are all-region but the page for this has no clear answer yet.

The back of the packaging clearly states all region as with all these Umbrella releases like Electric Boogaloo.

What I can’t confirm is if there’s any 50i or PAL SD content which would trip up a US RA locked BD player. Most of the extras must be SD encoded given the many hours of content and it”s only one disk.

Got my copy today and I'm about to dig in, but I just wanted to pass this along... the inside artwork is great, but it's this "little ditty" that had me laughing...

My copy just shipped from Deep Discount, meaning that with their slow ass shipping, I'll see it sometime in a week or so. I can't wait!

For those interested, the main feature itself is 1080i, and the special features are all encoded in 720p.

Bit of a shame that Umbrella didn't just turn this into a two-disc set and present all of the content in 1080p.

My PS3 is having a hell of a time with this disc. Won't load the menu without having to actually hit "top menu", and then when it does come up, the film clips that should be in the background do not play. I can only access some of the special features and the main feature will not play. Popped it into my region-free Seiki and all is well.

Are you in Australia? If not..it is likely the 1080i material is your issue.

I'm not in Australia. My PS3 hasn't had problems with 1080i in the past.

It's probably a 1080i/50 PAL issue. That's why the region-free Seiki can handle it and the PS3 can't.

Ah, didn't know it was 50Hz, now it makes sense.

It also plays at 25fps (50 fps with each frame duplicated) with a running time of 98:42. It ran 102:58 in UK cinemas at 24 fps as per the BBFC website. I don't know which speed is the one it was made at, though of course all the films we see extracts from were originally shot at 24fps.

This is another disc that doesn't like region modded Sony BDP-S1500 players. Like SILVER BULLET and THE AUTOPSY OF JANE DOE (and maybe more, but these are the only two discs I've bought it happens with), the player locks up if you press Stop or Eject. Works fine in the region free Laser BD3000.

I have and use the exact same player. I haven't had any problems with any disc from any region or country, but Umbrella's recent Fair Game release, is the first one to lock up my player when pausing/stopping.

That's another one to add to the list. It's disappointing as these are great releases and they work fine on other players and older Sony models.

Umbrella's mastering is sometimes enraging. I have a couple of their discs that just straight up lock the player if I hit stop. I have to go unplug the unit and wait a couple of seconds.
