Yeah, echoing what Reed says here. We chose to keep the ORIGINAL audio sources - the english 1.0 and 2.0, the japanese 1.0 - lossless, while for the bonus stuff, like the 5.1 mix, we included compressed. We couldn't fit it otherwise.

The 5.1 mix we included was only provided to us already compressed ANYWAY, and it is a much better mix than the old '08 disc which is a fake 5.1 with no discrete dialogue. So it kind of worked out.

To clarify more stuff:

-The SD BDs we do are 480p so long as we have a 480p/23.98 source - encoded with pulldown like mentioned previously. There is a bug in the PS4 firmware which causes that bad judder though. We've been trying to get Sony to fix it from every angle, but it's falling on deaf ears so far.

-I don't imagine the video for FOTNS looks a hell of a lot different than the DVDs other than the slightly higher bitrate.

-The red jacket series on Bluray are upscales, and really aren't worth putting out in HD. We're using this master for the new DVDs, and they look fine in SD. HD they're not worth it though.

Thanks for the clarifications, I definitely agree the original tracks are of top priority. I don't said discs, so I couldn't speak as to their qualities.

The red jacket series- I agree as well. Upscales of film content are of no gain. (LOTGH has this problem as well... Hopefully Sentai has a good workaround...) An SD BD along the line would be fantastic, though. (Most likely after all the sets are released)

As for FOTNS, the pulldown makes sense, and the Sony issue is unfortunate (seeing as the PS4 is what I watch Blu-rays on), but I'm still going to get the release.

It's always something with Sony and their PlayStation Blu Ray functions. I don't get it! They were the creators of Blu Ray and yet their flagship consoles have more playback issues than early build DVD players! What's the likelihood of Sony correcting the problem prior to FOTNS's release date? It would suck to have to buy a standalone Blu Ray player but at this point it seems like an inevitable event.

Check out the anime movie. If you like the movie, then you'll like the series. It's dated, but still a great action series.

The Blu-ray issues with the PS4 are especially infuriating considering the PS3 is such an excellent player.

The PS3 is a great player. The only time I ever had a problem was watching "Street Fighter 2". Other than one out of my 274 titles, no problems.

I wish I had the same luck with PS3. My PS3 stopped reading Blu Ray discs a while ago so I traded it in and got a PS4. I was hoping the PS4 would be a better Blu Ray player.

I've never used Crunchyroll but of I've had experience with streaming, it's most definitely going to be better on a disc; especially if it's SD material.

The Crunchyroll stream is horrible. The Blu Ray is going to be head and shoulders above it in terms of quality. The DVDs are better than Crunchyroll too.

How does the anime compare to the manga? I've read the manga and loved it but all the clips I've seen are goofy as **** with all the kung fu screaming.
