Season 10 is up for pre-order in Germany, but sadly DVD-only again

Excellent! Been waiting for that one. Glad to have both of Adventures in Unova's halves in one set. Love Charizard being front-and-center on the cover.

Crazy how this is coming out a month shy of a year since Rival Destinies. I'm glad it didn't get abandoned like the movie Blu-ray collections, but still, took long enough. Now we just have to see if XY is getting the same treatment or not.

Releasing the XY movie collection around when they begin releasing complete collections for the seasons could be a possibility. It would make sense from a marketing standpoint.

I really hope so! With XY re-releases hopefully around the corner and Miramax possibly losing exclusivity to 4Ever, I'd love to see Viz Media start putting out more movies on Blu-ray.

It took a few hours but I read through the thread. I was originally going to pick up the Kanto blu-ray set, but people have said it looks like garbage and the DVDs are better. Also, what are the best releases for the movies? I would rather pick up blu-rays over DVDs. I would also like 1 movie to a disk if possible. I have the 3 movie steelbook of the first 3 movies.

IMO the Blu-rays for Indigo League look just fine, and I am picky. But if you want the absolute best experience then it would be the DVDs watched on a 4:3 consumer SD CRT TV. IMO if you're watching on a modern TV then get the Blu-rays for Indigo.

None of the physical releases for Indigo League look any good imo. The best quality is on Netflix from what I recall. I remember being very surprised how good the quality was when I watched a few episodes on there years ago.

I decided to order some of the movies and TV shows today. I got an order update on my copy of movie 14 (Black & White). It's the blu-ray 2 pack from Australia. They say it's going to arrive April 20th 2023. I guess I'll put off watching everything till at least May.

The UK Indigo League is different from the US one but it doesn't look good either. Is it true that the US blu-ray left in the bumpers? The UK blu-ray doesn't have any bumpers.

The US Blu-ray has the "we'll be back after these messages" bumper left in certain episodes.

Interesting. The bumpers should be left in cause they are apart of the episodes originally.

Does the UK Blu-ray use VIZ's video masters or did they upscale their own Region 2 DVDs (PAL frame rate?)

I see that seasons 17-19 (the XY/XYZ seasons) have US DVDs and German blu-rays. Is the text in the German episodes in German?

The German XYZ blu-rays have the title cards in German but the credits are in English

They seem to be upscalled from NTSC masters as the framerate is 29.97 FPS so it is possible that they used the same masters as VIZ. To my Knowledge Manga UK didn't have the Pokémon License until 2016 so they Probably didn't even have SD masters for Indigo League before they Licensed it for blu-ray. Someone who is from the UK or Knows Manga UK very well might be able to confirm it.

I can clarify one thing about not having bumbers is that I haven't checked all of the episodes in the box set but there haven't been any from what I have watched

I finally got all of the 2008 DVD sets and the US blu-ray for Indigo League. I thought the DVDs were missing some episodes but they were just on another volume. The DVDs changed the order of some of the episodes. The episodes missing from the DVDs and the blu-ray are: Beauty and the Beach, The Legend of Dratini, and Electric Soldier Porygon. The blu-ray is missing: Princess vs. Princess, and The Purr-fect Hero. The DVDs don't include: Go West, Young Meowth.

The last time I watched the first season, I incorporated the discontinued episodes and watched them in the order they were supposed to air in. I'm a fan of the series and I'm fascinated by rare or lost media, so it seemed like the obvious thing to do. I can confidently say they add nothing to the experience. Beauty and the Beach and Holiday Hi-Jynx, in particular, were totally asinine and the worst sort of filler. So while I'm against the removal of episodes for any reason, I won't be rewatching these anytime soon.

What are your favorite episodes from the first season?

I haven’t rewatched anything just yet. I'm going to include the lost episodes so I can get the full story.
