The Australian/NZ Blu-ray Retailer Resource Thread
I thought it might be handy to start a thread listing information on the various retailers through which both local and international customers can buy Australian Blu-ray releases. I've often been asked by international members for this sort of information and I imagine that many others have too. Hopefully this will assist.
This thread will also include resources such as listings of overseas retailers offering shipping to Australia and information on their shipping services. Please note that if you are an international customer intending to purchase from an Australian/NZ retailer we are in Region B. You must have a multi-region capable player to play some titles if they are locked to region B. Utilise the database to determine if a title is locked or not. Please also be aware that some titles have content in 576i (PAL) and for international buyers this may be an issue such as some from the US whose HDTVs are not capable of displaying a 576i image. If you are aware of a retailer or information that is not included or requires updating then please post the details and I'll update the information. Thanks. I know even for US addresses, there are certain items that can't be sent to PO Box or non street addresses and their system is very picky about format of addresses. I'm not sure if there is something equivalent in AUS that is blocking it. At what point is it stopping you? I've assuming you are choosing AUS from the dropdown at the start of the process Another poster in EU was having an issue, but it something with his address trying to default to a US address. I'd suggest trying to save a shipping address in the account first and select from the Saved Address rather than entering it directly when you get to shipping and billing address questions. I'm having problems too. I'm only ordering 3 items and receive a message that 'one or more of the items in your shopping bag cannot be shipped to the country you have selected in your shipping address'.
Despite removing one and trying just two in any combination is making no difference, so I assume none of them ship to Australia: Bergman Boxset, Andrei Rublev & Stagecoach. Edit: Whilst it included the GST it did not include a cost for shipping. Oh well, I'll just go through another seller if B&N don't sort their mess out soon. Worth adding in the site daaveedee.com
Whilst they are a US site they only sell non-US Blu Rays & DVDs, including discs from the EU. They don't have 'everything' available but one can pick up some gems or hard to get titles from time to time. Don't know if they apply the GST but I doubt they do anywhere near the business in Australia for the GST to apply. |
