It seems like the series just ended. And they're rebooting it already?

I agree the movies are an insult to the games.

Well, yeah, they made money.

Hopefully now they'll actually make a horror film this time, though Johannes Roberts doesn't instill a lot of confidence.

If they **** this up again then I just don't know. Easiest thing in the world to get right. Just make the movie version of the first game. Train set piece followed by characters trapped in the mansion slowly realising what's going on and fighting to survive.

So simple.

Liked the first 47 meters down and prey at night. But, the sequel to 47 meters down was one of the worst films I’ve ever seen. So idk how I feel about him helming the RE reboot....

Maybe there's someone already planning their own Monster Hunter remake after Paul W.S. Anderson runs its good name into the ground.

Kaya Scodelario, Robbie Amell, Hannah John-Kamen & More To Star In Origin Story Adaptation

Quote:
Constantin Film has set in motion a new adaptation to add to the ever-expanding Resident Evil movie franchise. Constantin and writer-director Johannes Roberts said Tuesday that have conceived an official origin story adaptation with faithful ties to Capcom’s classic survival horror games. This story is set in 1998 on a fateful night in Raccoon City.

Starring in the roles of the iconic game characters will be Maze Runner‘s Kaya Scodelario as Claire Redfield alongside Hannah John-Kamen (Ant-Man and the Wasp) as Jill Valentine, Robbie Amell (Upload) as Chris Redfield, Tom Hopper (The Umbrella Academy) as Albert Wesker, Avan Jogia (Zombieland: Double Tap) as Leon S. Kennedy, and Neal McDonough (Yellowstone) as William Birkin.

“With this movie, I really wanted to go back to the original first two games and re-create the terrifying visceral experience I had when I first played them whilst at the same time telling a grounded human story about a small dying American town that feels both relatable and relevant to today’s audiences, said Roberts, the filmmaker behind shark thriller 47 Meters Down and its sequel.

Franchise producer Robert Kulzer will produce again on behalf of Constantin with James Harris from Tea Shop Productions and Hartley Gorenstein. []

Thank God no Alice. She was never in the games to begin with.

Eh. I like most of the cast. Kind of not feeling both Amell and Jogia. One comes across as frat bro douche where as the other just doesn't have the right look, whether it be facial hair or clean shaven.
I'm sold on both Scodelario and John-Kamen.

But my big worry is the director. Roberts just makes movies that are slogs. The Strangers sequel was unbearable in "tension" and the 47 Metres Down movies just don't work.

As long as they do not have anything as goofy as this I will give it a go.

Resident Evil: AfterLife. Chris, Claire & Alice VS Wesker. Fight Scene. HD 1080p. - YouTube
This scene is literally right out of the games. It's campy nonsense and it's the movies at their best.

There's maybe three total scary resident evil games. Remake of 1/2, and RE7. The rest are dumb as shit action games. The series has a reputation for being scary, but most of them are exactly what's in that video.

To be fair, some of the Resident Evil games have some pretty cheesy ass cut scenes, though.

I do not recall people flipping through the air dodging bullets. Then kicking glass. I played 1 2 4 and 5. Was it in 6?

Im interested to see what they do with the RE movies now. I enjoy the others for they are, mindless fun action/horror films. Not sure about the casting of Jill even though I like the actress.

I only enjoyed the first two ones for nostalgic and fun popcorn fun reasons. But the rest feels like bad fan fiction. They don't truly do justice to the games at all.

It's in RE5 with the fight with Chris, Jill, VS Wesker where they're at the Spencer Estate and the fight with Sheva, Chris, VS Wesker in the helicopter right before the final boss fight the Volcano. I know the glass part wasn't in the game unless it was in RE6 and I don't recall that being in that game, but it's been awhile since I played it. The rest of the choreography though is almost shot for shot.

Even so though, 4 also has its own ridiculous stuff, like a giant stone statue chasing Leon, the Krauser knife fight, Leon in the laser hallway taken directly from the first live action movie, etc.

Goodness I do not remember any of that. This fight I thought was better.
