Anyway else pick(ing) this up? It doesn't release until tomorrow but my Target copy came today and the cover art is different from the one on every site (including Target). The art looks like the same as the cover from season 1, but the run time on the back does say 600 mins.

Anyway I've already seen both seasons on Crunchy Roll, but I am a fan of the series and I got a decent deal for the set so I went ahead and bought it. Really wish they would release the original series on BD as I never got the 5.1 remix and my DVDs are pretty scratched up from letting people borrow it...

I want original Berserk (1997) on Blu-ray. No offense, but the new Berserk is crap. The CGI was just too much.

I am eventually getting this. There was some serious hate but both me and my wife liked it. Granted she never seen the original series which... Of course compared to this newer one is better in all regards.

^^ As kk1 alluded to, there's a new Steel of the OG Berserk ('97) being released by MVM courtesy of AoL (possibly amz.uk)

If you need a reason for a region all player, ya got one....

I hate how the show ended, but to be honest, I have never liked any ending of any of the shows I have seen.
I got teary-eyed during the finale, but I feel like it was a weak ending to such a great series.

Well, I had to scramble to find the Season 2 combo set just before Christmas, to properly fill the Season 1 LE box I had bought previously. It was OOS everywhere but on Funimation's website, so I believe that 2nd season set is OOP. Now that I have the LE set completed, I won't be needing to get the Complete Series in the Standard release.

The CGI for Berserk 2016 doesn't bother me at all; it's certainly not that great, but I pretty much just ignore the bad CGI if the story keeps me interested. I'm not so picky and critical as some people are. I have not watched Season 2, so I don't know how this new series ends yet.

I imported the MVM UK Blu-ray box set of the original 1997 series, and have also pre-ordered the upcoming UK Steelbook release of the same series as a double-dip. They are both Region B Blu-ray releases, but I own two hardware-modded Oppo players so I can watch anything from any region. I also got the original 1997 series in the nice Box of War DVD set.

I missed out on the season 2 bluray set and regretting itasi have the LE for season 1. Hoping some will go up on Ebay for those that will be purchasing the complete set.

The Season 2 Blu-ray set is still available on Funimation's site for $48.74; as a last-chance option to get one before going to the second-hand market, that's not an outrageous price. Sometimes you gotta bite the bullet, especially if you want to complete the LE box set...

Of course, you have to remove the two DVDs from the Season 1 4-panel digipak, and replace them with the two Season 2 Blu-rays to get both seasons to fit inside the LE box, but that works fine for me, as I have no use for the DVD discs. Same goes for the Golden Kamuy LE.

No, they are both Region B only. The steelbook is just a re-release of the MVM Box set you just linked to. Same discs different packaging.

Wonder if it's worth importing a Region B UHD player... this has been out since 2017, so probably not coming stateside anytime soon, if ever?

Media Blaster's rights to the original expired in 2013, or at least that is when it was confirmed to be expired. The rights could have lapsed a year or two earlier for all we know.

I wouldn't mind getting a region free player. I haven't had a good enough reason to purchase another player though. If and when I do, it'll likely be a cheap UHD 4K player. I've got all these Marvel/comic book movies in 4K but no way to view them except for digitally.

I only have an Xbox One X, so no DV or HDR10+ bitstreaming for me, but the above player would open up those doors. $180 shipped to the US with Berserk seems like a decent price.

If so, let us know your thoughts on it.

I prefer a player with ARC available, so I can listen to tv received shows back via the stereo set-up but I have 2 machines that do so, so I'm good.

Heh, in fact I'm in the market for a 3rd region-all machine now, for my girls.
