There has been a great deal of hubbub and anxiety over The Big Two continuing to release comics digitally, and it appears that Marvel will be releasing comics digitally next week. Or first tip off was this blurb for Star Wars: Doctor Aphra #1.

They can pull that move if they want to, it is going to hurt their pr. I know they have reached out to stores to ship direct going around diamond.

My sales have gone up over the last few days. Only issue is I did not have enough stock.

This will probably be the start of the end for Diamond. The retailers are reporting that they no longer want to work with them.

There will be other options popping up.

As long as comics don't go digital only then I'll be happy. I started collecting last spring and I'll be sad to see it end here. I still prefer trades for reading but I've grown accustom to buying variants and appreciating the various cover arts.

Going digital will kill every comic shop. My last May cone was canceled, trying to figure out my release schedule now.

MARVEL COMICS ‘Pausing’ Work & Release of ONE-THIRD Of Its May & June Titles

Marvel Entertainment is immediately "pausing" work on - and the release of - approximately one-third of its May and June comic book issues, a spokesperson confirmed for Newsarama. Marvel's representative said 15 to 20% of its solicited titles would be affected, as some of them are twice-monthly in May and June.

The decision to pause work on the affected titles, according to the spokesperson, is "to help spread the amount of publishing product over the coming weeks and months."

Asked when the publisher intends to resume publishing the issues not affected by the pause, the Marvel spokesperson said "as soon as more information is available, we will outline our longer-term plans."

Marvel began telling creators involved with the suspended titles of this decision Friday, and the company spokesperson re-assured Newsarama that "all talent will be paid for their work to date."

Better than going digital. It sounds like DC was ready to jump on the digital train right away but received tons of backlash from fans and shop owners. That's not a good way to treat your business partners who have stood with you and sold your product for decades.
