Season 1 will be released by VIZ. Season 2 and the movie by Funimation very very likely.

Likely agreements that have already been made will keep on going though I can see Funi doing new releases once they catch up with everything. I wouldn't be surprised if we still saw a few random Discotek releases for shows they don't think are worth dubbing.

Anyone know what the hell the "super ticket" is? I bought my ticket through Cinemark and they list a $30 super ticket but there's no info on what exactly it is. I can't find anything about it on the Crunchyroll announcement either.

I bought my ticket through Cinemark and it is a dubbed showing, don't know if that makes a difference.

By comparison, Demon Slayer made $9,547,988 on Friday (Note: Friday always has Thursday previews rolled in). If it performs similarly, it should open around $20 million. Like Demon Slayer, I'm expecting this to be quite frontloaded.

The PG-13-rated anime title about a cursed spirit and a high school for sorcery bowed to a jaw-dropping $14.8 million in North America, racking up a $6,482 per-screen average at 2,286 locations. It has pulled in $17.7 million domestically so far. Jujutsu’s success is the latest proof that the anime audience is bigger than many in Hollywood previously thought, especially coming on the heels of the same studio’s $21.2 million opening for Demon Slayer the Movie: Mugen Train back in April 2021. Overseas, Jujutsu has taken in $112.1 million, putting the domestic sleeper’s combined global haul at $129.8 million.

Boxoffice Pro and BoxOfficeReport however had it on their radar, and while both underestimated it (the former predicted $10,500,000, the latter predicted $12,400,000), they both expected it to do something.

Among the new releases, Funimation’s Jujutsu Kaisen 0: The Movie appears to be the frontrunner during this quiet March weekend. The studio has had considerable success bringing fan-driven anime films to North America, most recently with last year’s My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission and Demon Slayer: Mugen Train.

Tracking comparisons for Jujutsu are obviously limited given the niche audience, so the question is which of those two recent releases it behaves more like. Pre-sales are very encouraging, and weekend play could be strong even after Thursday night previews. A true wide release is also at hand with Showtimes Dashboard registering nearly 2,200 locations booked as of Wednesday morning — already more than Academia‘s 1,585 and Demon Slayer‘s 1,614.

Based on the habits of these and similar films to exceed expectations, and with an IMAX footprint this weekend, Jujutsu has some modest breakout potential that could see it crack the top three this weekend. The Japanese import has a strong early Rotten Tomatoes score of 100 percent from 13 critics.

This weekend's highest profile new film is Crunchyroll and Funimation's release of Jujutsu Kaisen 0: The Movie. The Sunghoo Park directed anime film is an adaptation of the manga series of the same name. Jujutsu Kaisen 0: The Movie was released in Japan this past December, where it was a strong performer at the box office. The performance of Jujutsu Kaisen 0: The Movie in Japan has helped build excitement for the film in North America (similar to Demon Slayer The Movie: Mugen Train last year). While Jujutsu Kaisen 0: The Movie isn't expected to match the $21.24 million start of Demon Slayer The Movie, the film shouldn't have a problem outpacing the $6.22 million start of last year's My Hero Academia: World Heroes' Mission.
